Do Muslims, Christians have a different God?

The recent letter, “Muslims misjudged and misunderstood” (Nov. 3) contains a monstrous misconception that has mightily misguided many.

A common error that was stated in the letter, “Essentially, their God (Allah) is the same God that Christians and Jews worship” is a deception that easily deceives those who do not know who Jesus is and what He did. The Quran proclaims that Allah does not have a son, and that Jesus did not die on the cross. However, the Bible states that Jesus is God’s only son and “the image of the invisible God.” Being God in human flesh qualified Jesus to be a substitute to receive God’s wrath for man’s sin. He did this on the cross and is why He said “no man cometh to the Father but by me.”

No other religion or good works will qualify; only belief in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, and His shed blood for one’s sin will qualify one for heaven. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36).

No wonder Jew, Muslims and Christians have been slaughtering each other for the past 2000 years.

I really wish we had the opportunity to have a discussion with Jesus in person and on earth, and not with any interpreter, sage, pope or politician. Do you really think the men that wrote the bible had his thoughts, interests, and morality in mind?

Here you go- the higher power that be here on earth are attempting to bring some resolve to this disconnect. Can we please try do the same in the name of peace? I do believe that God and Jesus love everyone here on earth regardless on what anyone believes will happen afterwards. Remember we are supposed to immitate Jesus here on earth, not try to play God and judge and then allow human nature to bring upon hatred. If people can't get to heaven per your belief, through Jesus, perhaps people should try to pity them instead of judging and believing that makes every last one a terrorist.

I dislike the little stereotypes and boxes so much that I changed to an Independent and call myself a Christian rather than by denomination to keep people from thinking they know what I believe and think on every religious and political issue.I believe many of us are born into these ideas and don't realize every last one of us were given a brain to think for ourselves. I am not sure why so many believe that is not possible for Muslims, specifically when it comes to the Quran. I have a new neighbor from Afghanistan. He was able to charade his way through telling me he came to the USA for peace and made the sound of bombs. He hugs me and my children when he sees us. He is very happy to be here and to be alive. Do not forget that there are civilians that die, including children due to many of the USA's bombs. I am pretty sure our God and Jesus do not believe in killing, period. Believe it or not, most of these people aren't standing around waiting for and hoping for a bomb to hit them as a sacrifice in the name of Allah. A wedding party was hit a week or two ago. The Afghanistan President is asking President Elect Obama not to send more troops in because of the number of citizens dying. These people for the most part want peace regardless of what their Quran says. Believe it.

. . . understand that in 1000 years this may not be an issue . . .

Well stated, Atticus. I think we should withdraw from Afghanistan as soon as possible. Can anyone tell me why we are there? Did we learn nothing from the Russian invasion? I think Bin Laden is either dead or the USA doesn't want him found.

And does anyone really believe that God only wants Christians? True Christianity is a beautiful way to serve God, but I don't think it is the only way. I believe God is similar to the description in Fannie Flagg's CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO HEAVEN.
