This presidential election produces bright new day
The sun rose in the east. Mother Nature smiled “good morning,” another “good to be alive day.” But wait. This day is unique. America just elected a black man for president.
And yet, the sky didn’t fall. The world is still turning. To those friends and family members who said they couldn’t vote for a black man, I say it’s time to suck it up, come out of the darkness and into the light. Breathe the fresh air.
Our new president is cool and, as a bonus, we get a beautiful first family.
Can’t you see a resurrection of President Kennedy’s Camelot? This time in living color.
Black Americans — no, all Americans — should be proud. Feel the excitement and hope for the future.
These are my own opinions. Hey, I’m just an old, white, World War II vet, transplanted Yankee living in beautiful, hospitable (newly blue) North Carolina and loving it, you all.

"Can’t you see a resurrection of President Kennedy’s Camelot?"
Why not? Newsweek and Time have already compared him to Lincoln and FDR.
Better yet why not wait until the guy assumes office and see what he does.
The doom & gloomers are predicting...well...doom and gloom. The ardent supporters like Mr. Roseman are predicting Camelot fairy tales. Both predictions are being made before the man has even served one day as president.
Obama is going to have some very, very difficult issues to deal with. I say wish him the best and let's see what happens.

BTW it's ya'll Mr. Roseman, not you all.

Dan said, "BTW it's ya'll Mr. Roseman, not you all."
BTW, Dan, it's "y'all" ! If you need an explanation, just let me know. [smiley face]

Yet another colorblind liberal ( damn Yankee to boot) telling us how enlightened he is for not noticing little messiah is black and he is white.

Obama lied. There is no way he can do all of what he promised during the election. And the democRATs knew it then and they know it now. That is why they are already lowering expectations of the little messiah. That is why they are already making excuses. That is why they are already backtracking on their promises.
The democRATs were willing to say anything to get elected and that is exactly what they did. They knowing lied and got elected.

For consistency, I suggest that Dan's keyboard was responsible for the misspelling.
After all, guns kill people.

Sorry for the misplacement of the apostrophe fanatic, I was in a hurry to get out the door. Smiley face back to you. At any rate I've been in NC since 1970 and still don't say y'all.
Posted on December 1, 2008 6:18 PM
then you still don't belong here, geez.
Posted on December 1, 2008 8:43 PM
Sorry pal, 38 of 45 years in NC, I belong. BTW, I don't drink sweet tea either. Consolation, unlike my native Ohioan brethren I don't call a Diet Coke a "pop", it's a Diet Coke.

"I don't drink sweet tea either."
oh my god, just leave already.
born a 'damn Yankee' (<<--neo's words), always a 'damn Yankee.'

I've very likely been living in NC more years than you have been alive, does that count? Were you born here?
Ooooopppppssss, minor omission. I lived one year in socialist France back in the early 80's, so deduct a year. If you have been living in this state 37 years or more then you have the trump card.
BTW, that year taught me not to ever live again in a socialist country and Frenchies don't drink iced tea.

Born at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte on a cloudy day in August with ancestors living around the great Rocky River since at least 1750.
I think my pedigree wins in NorthCarolina-yness, even if you've got 15 years more on the ground.

Face it Dan: If you cannot trace southern ancestrial roots back to the Civil War .. you're a yankee.

"born a 'damn Yankee' (<<--neo's words), always a 'damn Yankee."
Not true, rahrah. There is a huge difference between a 'Yankee' and a 'damn' Yankee.
Posted on December 2, 2008 8:06 AM
and that difference is?
Posted on December 2, 2008 7:42 PM
A damn Yankee won't go home. :]
(exception to Dan as I have 'knighted' him as an official southerner)
Posted on December 3, 2008 7:56 AM
BTW, rahrah, you owe me $20...
Donate it to the SA...:]
Posted on December 3, 2008 8:15 AM
How exactly does a southerner knight someone else as a southerner? This is a ceremony I am unfamiliar with.
Also, we never shook on it...but what's the SA?
Posted on December 3, 2008 9:21 AM
The Salvation Army....

I'm not reneging. I'll give the 20 bucks, but next time I accept a bet, you might want to acknowledge it before you win.
Also, since you're neo, I had to make sure that the SA wasn't some satellite of the KKK or something ;).
Give me your address and I'll have them mail you a card that says a donation has been made in honor of neocon.
email it if you want, thesickgiraffe@yahoo.com.

Lastly, the SA donation form has blank where can designate exactly what you want the money to go to. Since it's your money, do you have a preference?
Posted on December 3, 2008 6:24 PM
Just drop it in a bell ringer's bucket. I need no verification. I trust anyone who likes sausage balls...even if they don't know what a neocon is.
