Members of Congress do well for themselves

In less than 20 days, you who put Barack Obama in office with the promise of change should start asking questions. Start with: “Why should I not be able to retire at 50 years of age after 20 years of service with guaranteed pension, health coverage and cost-of-living increases for the rest of my life? My pension cannot be taken away even if I am convicted of embezzlement or any other crime except treason. I do not have to worry about my 401(k) going to pot.”

This is how your lawmakers in Congress live. Now you know why they want to serve you and ask for your help in getting elected.

Do you know who is paying the bill? Don’t panic. Only those who pay taxes or own property and work should worry. One of these days, voters will figure out why sales-tax proposals don’t pass.

" ... you who put Barack Obama in office .."

I am positive it was not 100% the exclusive doing of left of hard right voters who enabled Congress to fatten their own cows at the public trough.

I agree wholeheartedly, you are right on Ken. Only I dont' think that any one of any party created this mess, so don't blame Obama he's got alot on his plate right now he is inheriting alot of s**t this being only one of many screw ups that have been allowed to happen and progress under the noses of all the American citizens who trusted the government in the beginning.

Alot of inconsistancies have been discovered in the government in recent years and especially during the nomination and election process of this last fiasco of back bitting and tail wagging.

It is time for a change, and we as American citizens are obligated to join hands and unite for the good of all. No matter who is president or what his skin color may be, (he's not all black ya know, people seem to forget he is half white) he is what we have as president for 4 years and we are all still Americans and we need to take out country back, bring our jobs and pride back, and most of all restore integrity to our government.

Kenny, you forgot to mention those pensions are guaranteed on the backs of the taxpayers. No matter how bad it gets for us, state and federal pensioners will continue to receive theirs via laws that takes ours.

The people to blame is us.

We sent representatives to Washington and failed to pay attention to what they were doing. We have not held them accountable for what they have or have failed to do. We keep sending the same people back to Washington and expect things to change. We all know how dumb that is. Why are we doing this?

We need a Constitutional Convention to change the way business is done in Washington. Term limits, reasonable compensation, the Fair Tax.

I agree with you OS. We have elected these people that we trusted and believed in and what have any of them done for the average Joe? not much really except tax us to death and go on living their lavish life styles and commit crimes only to be absolved while the average Joe, struggles with paying the bills every month and hopes that a catastrophe doesn't happen.

I don't know what the answer is but what we've got going now isn't the answer. We must give Obama a chance tho, we can't discount him without at least a trial period.

you interested in running for election next time? We need some REAL people in Washington and Raleigh, not these, lying, cheating, stealing, finger pointing ******** we have now. Unfortunately I have yet to see anyone, that would really make a difference in this country, ever gets past the nomination process.
