It’s not up to Obama to rescue black America

So now we have a new president, and he happens to be black. The question is being asked across the country, “What is President Barack Obama going to do for black America?” The answer is nothing. What he does he will do for America, and if the black man benefits from what he does, then that’s a good thing.

The question that we should be asking is, “What is black America going to do for black America?” If we don’t stop killing each other, destroying the lives of the young and old, destroying future generations, then it does not matter what he does; we will continue to propel ourselves down that road that leads to destruction and maybe even annihilation.

nah...the question is, "What is he going to do for mulatto America?"

My question is what he going to do for the ILLEGALS? It appears he going to send them a check for the rest of their lives.
Also seems ILLEGALS children, will become a ward of the American tax payer under the SCHIP plan.
I have written Kay Hagan, a letter recived no reply. Do not expect to.

“What is President Barack Obama going to do for black America?” Funny, I've not heard this question. Maybe I don't run in the circles that this question is being asked.

I agree with Mr. Wrenn's second paragraph. I think that his use of "destruction" and "annihilation" shows a flair for the dramatic, but, he is correct about the nihlisim that is present in a certain segmment of the African American population. It's the same behavior that was behind the death of the NC A&T student. Here was a young man who was doing the right thing and he had his life taken by a parasitic member of the community.

Mr. Wrenn, please keep in mind that these negative members are from a population of twelve million people. So, focus on the positive members of the population and do not dwell on the negative. There is already one on this site who takes his rather ignorant focus on negative African American behavior and uses it as an opportunity to write about what is wrong as opposed to what is right. You said that some are asking “What is President Barack Obama going to do for black America?” I think he will expose America to educated, talented and smart African Americans who are capable of doing great things. It's up to Americans to view these people though eyes that are not jaundiced by hate.

Obama will continue his Robin Hood prosperity message: steal from the hard-working haves and render unto the less fortunate (and only because they're in the majority of voters) until he breaks the bank. Not one dime of the federal deficit has been repaid since Reagan. And it never will be.

The upcoming reparations check for his half-brethren should pretty much do it. Look for him to hint at it in his first term and then sign it on his first day in office of his second term.

And then just maybe blacks will no longer have to fake having cellular service, they'll actually get to hear a voice on the other end for the first time...

Excellent letter Mr. Wrenn, the concept of personal responsibility is becoming alien. I will agree with conundrum in that there are many black people who make significant contributions to society. I see them all the time in my work.

"Obama will continue his Robin Hood prosperity message: steal from the hard-working haves and render unto the less fortunate ... "

You mean the hard-working haves who just received almost $20 Billion in taxpayer money because of their excellent work in the Financialization of America?

"Not one dime of the federal deficit has been repaid since Reagan".

Please cite your source, Molene Gunch. I gotta add when you say stuff like that, your credibility goes to below zero.

Here's counter data - found everywhere but within your apparent fantasy world.

Deficit = spending more than your income.
Since 1969, Congress has spent more money than its income.
"In January 1981, when Reagan declared the federal budget to be 'out of control,' the deficit had reached almost $74 billion, the federal debt $930 billion. Within two years, the deficit was $208 billion. The debt by 1988 totaled $2.6 trillion. In those eight years, the United States moved from being the world's largest international creditor to the largest debtor nation".

In Fiscal Year 2008, the U. S. Government spent $412 Billion on interest payments to holders of the National Debt.

"Mr. Wrenn, please keep in mind that these negative members are from a population of twelve million people." I was typing at 7 am. And the oxygen had not made its way to certain brain cells. African Americans make up about 12% of the US popluation with a figure of about 34,000,000.

Molene Gunch, isn't there some church that you and JPRT could be bombing? Or at the very least, some black man that you could be dragging behind a pickup!

But do look for the big check, it'll get you all the cell time (pardon the pun) you''ll ever need.

I reckon it's due to the ability to call it as I see it instead of being brainwashed by political correctness.

Also, I'm fully cognizant of everything being relative. When all the money's confiscated and the bank president cackles in your face from behind his national guard protection, will you be so concerned with such trivial matters as these?

Let's have some fun while we can.

Has the possibility that the two are one and the same? It used to happen here all the time. One blogger had three to six monikers, all at the same time. Don't know if it is still possible as I have always used my real name and have not tried to create several identities. If I had the time, it might be fun to try it.

Left off "occurred to you?" Sorry, my bad.

Molene - you said "Not one dime of the federal deficit has been repaid since Reagan".

How you got to "the economic expansion during the Reagan years, the illusion of prosperity," is totally beyond me. I guess it's "due to [your] ability to call it as I see it .. "

... for Reagan's economic expansion ... until it is pointed out this "illusion of prosperity" was in no small way due to his spending of money like a drunken sailor .. at which point Reagan's miracle becomes the result of a devil-laden congress ... but still unrestrained There you go again Kudo's to Reagan for being Reagan the Make-My-Day Great!

Kinda like the kudos within this blog and for 5 years given to Bushie's Solid Economic's ... especially the pary about the rapid rise of minority home ownership ... until the house of cards comes crashing .. and of course at that time the Democratic's held congress so it's all THEIR fault.

While I agree the "D's" clearly have more than their fair share of culpability ... hang out in this blog long enough and you will see it is Always, Forever, and 100% D-LIEburals fault while the straight (not counting Larry-Lo Craig) and strong "R" conservatives hold the exclusive wisdom of truth, justice and the American way.

I can't understand why Obama is "BLACK" to all you discriminatory people, Obama is also white but I guess you don't want to claim that cuz it might embarrass someone huh. I'm sure your view his mother as a slut because she had sex with a black man and produced a child. On the contrary, back in the 60's, you had to be pretty courageous to marry someone not of your race.

I think that Obama is interested in helping all the downtrodden in this country not just the blacks.

Yes, I wouldn't doubt that Molene and JPRT are the same person as I also think that Dan and mamaboilermaker are one in the same . As mama made a comment that was word for word something that Dan had said a month or so ago.
It can be done with several e-mail addresses. They aren't so hard to get I have 5 e-mail addresses myself.

I've had the exact same email address since 1997, one account. The company got bought and changed names but they allowed users to retain the same address. Everyone remember the dial up days?

mamab and I are not the same person but I love her dearly.

Here's an example:

NEO - at every opportunity - talks about FDR and how his g-man giveaways to lazy slacker individuals has ruined America.

I'm almost done "Crisis and Leviathan: Critical Episodes in the Growth of American Government" by Robert Higgs .. which is widely regarded as a Conservative Bible for Fiscal Responsibility. Higgs - in detailed discussion of FDR - talks mostly about how the business' of the era - the fabled EEEEVVVVVVILLLLLl Corporations - took broad advantage of the policies. In contrast, direct affects on individuals were minor.

.. instead we'll hear forever how FDR how his g-man giveaways to lazy slacker individuals has ruined America.

Robert Higgs, (the aforementioned author) in Depression, War, and Cold War (2006), writes:

Accepting his party's nomination for the presidency in 1936, Mr. Roosevelt railed against the "economic royalists" who were allegedly seeking a "new industrial dictatorship" . . . Privately, he opined that "businessmen as a class were stupid, that newspapers were just as bad" . . . Just before the election of 1936, in an address at Madison Square Garden, he fulminated against the magnates of "organized money" . . . To uprorious applause, he threatened: "I should like to have it said of my second Administration that in it these forces met their master."

Their "master" being, of course, big government. (a desire that still lives in today's liberals/socialists)

Thanks, FDR. (honorable mention to LBJ of course for his tireless work in increasing the dependency class/crime rate tenfold)

Mama wants y'all to know that she is NOT Dan. If I say something that sounds like him, well, my Granny used to say that great minds work in the same direction ; )

I am Baptist and female--pretty sure Dan is male and Catholic. That doesn't mean we can't agree sometimes. I'm guessing that he and I have read some of the same books and documents, including the U.S. Constitution. Might account for us using the same quotes occasionally. Dan is much nicer than I am--I've got a mean streak.

mamaboilermaker [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

FYI, noname, you haven't been on the blog long enough to recall that Dan and I have had disagreements--one of them was about liquor by the drink. It's that Baptist v. Catholic thing, I guess. I still like Dan--as long as he uses a designated driver when necessary!

But you're usually sweet to me mamab, that's why I love ya. You are correct, I'm a Catholic male.

I hardly ever drink liquor, but do enjoy a few beers or a glass of wine, at home. I don't drink and drive. That even goes for Mass as we have real wine unlike that grape juice you Baptists enjoy. I don't take a sip however because I'm not drinking after the 40 people in front of me.

D.C. also holds a similar event every four years and had been planning it for a while. The people who came had their own working vehicles or other prearranged transportation and probably most had planned well in advance while others (like me and a buddy) just decided to go on Monday and got lucky when it came to avoiding traffic. But we did have that whole working vehicle thing.

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

"Simple, Monica. DC didn't have a grade IV hurricane to flood homes and the streets,..."

You missed a key part of her question "three days notice".

rahrah, I asked the hotel clerk where I stayed in DC last week about the inauguration crowd. She told me people (non guests) were flooding their lobby looking for warmth, rest rooms and taxis. None of the latter were to be had. Glad you were able to attend, as someone who cannot stand crowds the TV was a much better option.

noname [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Three days notice for Katrina victims was wonderful as long as you had transportation, or had the money to get out of the way of it.

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Here is some transportation that could have been used noname. Problem was the mayor was too incompetent to use it.

Yvonne [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

No, Dan, I didn't miss it, I ignored it. The statement seemed to be another blame-game that I was not going to buy into. As rahrah has so factually put at least twice in this thread, when you have no wheels, are you suppose to set out on foot? Do you think they would have made it to safety in three days had they been able to walk? As a father, would you put backpacks on yourself, your wife and two children, then set out walking with the hopes you all can make it? Or would you batten down the hatches and pray for mercy?

Let me remind you, you do not know the circumstances of any of those people unless they are friends or relatives. You can talk all day about what you would or would not have done in their situation, all based on assumption. However, if your circumstances were the same as many of those people who lived through it, you might be singing a different tune. Until you walk a mile in the shoes of another, perhaps you should not be so judgmental.

"Problem was the mayor was too incompetent to use it."

So you are going to blame a whole sector of people because the mayor was incompetent?

J Peterman Reality Tour [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Also . . . I hear that out of all the people who attended the DC festivities . . . only seven african American people missed work that day . . .

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Good reason to ignore it Yvonne, but it is there, buses sitting in the water. A competent mayor or assistant would have had an idea, hey let's use those buses and get people outta here!! The photo speaks for itself. I understand your political bent forces you to ignore the obvious.

BTW, Katrina became a Cat V and made landfall as a Cat III.

"As a father, would you put backpacks on yourself, your wife and two children, then set out walking with the hopes you all can make it?"

If I knew a Cat V hurricane was coming my way I would get out via foot, bike, school bus, whatever.

"So you are going to blame a whole sector of people because the mayor was incompetent?"

Not at all, the governor was incompetent as well.

Spare me the circumstances bit unless someone was elderly, infirm, a child or incapacitated. People have evacuated from hurricanes before including my parents from NC and my brother from TX. Yes they had cars, but those who depend upon govt. should have a competent govt. who can realize school buses can hold lots of people.
