Pitts misrepresented Limbaugh’s statement
Leonard Pitts wrote (Jan. 26) that Rush Limbaugh said he hopes President Obama fails, then called Limbaugh and his supporters names, such as clowns. Pitts either did not research Limbaugh’s statements thoroughly, purposely misinterpreted them out of context, or is plain stupid. Limbaugh clearly explained that he hopes Obama’s socialistic policies fail. I, too, hope he fails in pursuing these goals.
For the past several years, the left-leaning mainstream press and politicians did the same to George Bush. Not only did they hope he failed, they actively pursued measures to that end, such as constant public criticism of his anti-terrorist policies, overplaying petty hazing at prison camps, and even an unverified forged letter. Where was Pitts’ outrage then?

wait. petty hazing?

I will usually read through most LTEs, but, when I got to the "...overplaying petty hazing at prison camps" line, I stopped reading. Because, that told me all that I needed to know about Mr. Camp. If what went on at Abu Ghraib, and what goes on at Guantanamo, can be described as "petty hazing," then I am not surprised that he is a follower of Mr. Limbaugh. You can't sing the praises of a democracy while you are trouncing the rights of another.
Mr. Limbaugh has a practice of making racist and intolerant statements. Transcripts will prove that. I would be willing to wager that his listeners subscribe to a lot of what Mr. Limbaugh espouses. And, I am reaching the conclusion that a lot of his listeners are lemmings. They do not appear to be able to form an individual thought on their own - much like the Republican Congress and their unanimous vote on Pres. Obama's stimulus bill. A bill that won without their approval. They should have seen that one coming. This win was reminiscent of Sen. Obama winning the election without carrying the South.

"..much like the Republican Congress and their unanimous vote on Pres. Obama's stimulus bill."
Good for them and the 11 democrats in the House who grew a spine and voted against the monstrous deficit spending. Go check out some of the pork in that bill, I thought Obama was going to trim pork non?
And before anyone says, but "Dan, but Dan, Bush supported a large bailout....." I didn't support that either.
"A bill that won without their approval."
That would be called a majority.

The little messiah's handlers, along with a willing media, are making sure Limbaugh stays in the spotlight as long as possible to provide much needed cover for the welfare expansion act of 2009. They don't want to have to answer detailed questions about this 'stimulus' package. (which in reality is nothing more than payback for ACORN and other supporters of the little messiah)
When the Limbaugh cow runs dry, look for another 'outrage' to pop up while this welfare bill makes it's way through the senate. Although I doubt there will be this much brouhaha attached to it, as there will be a few gutless Republicans who want to appear on 'Meet the Press' and 'Hardball' to bask in the glow of liberal praise. (Snowe, Graham, Hutchinson come to mind)
Speaking of a smitten media:

Neo, you are the man.
I was looking up at the stars last night, have you noticed the new peanut shaped head cluster rising in the east?

Obama has been president for less than two weeks, folks. You must think he is a god to if you expect him to correct the hellish mess Bush made for eight years in such a short period. I, for one, think he is just a mortal man who needs time to perform at capacity, not a miracle worker. Your partisanship is showing.

Molene,
I have noticed it, but haven't looked directly at it for more than a couple of seconds at a time. My wife gazed at it for about 3 minutes then went inside and typed this address into our computer:

She now wants a me to pay for her cellular service.

The economy is falling apart. Jobs are being lost by the 10s of thousands.
Hold the presses something really important has happened.........................
Leonard Pitts has criticized Rush Limbaugh quoting something that he actually said!!!!!!
Gasp! Will the republic survive?
Golly they are a thin skinned insecure bunch of ditto heads aren't they? N&R cease and desist. Enough "poor Rush" letters already. Let them whine on free republic and other echo chambers for a while where the imaginary liberal media (and reality) won't interrupt their self congratulatory world view.

Whatever became of lib/con? Did he die or did Allen's Johnson finally boot him off?
Anyhoo Yvonne, if Obama had a shred of integrity, he would've prosecuted Bush for war crimes and made it his first priority in office to arrest the scads of white collar criminals that have put us in this dookie pile.
But that won't happen. He'll continue to call it a recession/depression (instead of unprosecuted white collar crime) and go about his task of rescuing us with the same tactics that got us here in the first place.
If the real truth were told, people would make a run on the banks. And then the second constitution would be enacted... America as a police state. They do want this, but the time they have chosen will come only after the last possible entitlements and political advantages have been exhausted.

conundrum, you said "I would be willing to wager that his listeners subscribe to a lot of what Mr. Limbaugh espouses. "
You think?, Maybe that's why they listen to him.
Somewhat like why you read Leonard Pitts.
You also said "They do not appear to be able to form an individual thought on their own - much like the Republican Congress and their unanimous vote on Pres. Obama's stimulus bill. "
This would be opposed the democrat lemmings who all voted for it?
Which I don't see as an "economic stimulus" bill, so much as an, "pay back pork bill for the election."

MG,
I am in agreement that Bush and Co., as well as at least half of the participating scumbags responsible for our current situation, deserve to be prosecuted. But I disagree with that being a major priority right now.
With almost no exception, every town, city, metropolitan area and hole in the wall (not to mention countries) have reported high rates of unemployment and (near if not total) financial collapse. Since the world is experiencing such dire circumstances, I do not support even more expenditure and division. Unlike repubs who cried crucify at any cost in the Clinton fiasco, I really do want what is best for my country.

Good point Yvonne, but if a bunch of criminals busted into your B&B and ran off with the goodies, would you not call the police to get it back? I doubt very much you'd wish they wouldn't waste taxpayer gas chasing them down.

Watch out for that link, Neo, it's a scam. There are a few of these sites promising to get you government grants for nothing -- that is until you get a little deeper with them at which time you're asked to cough up some bucks to cover their costs. In fact a lot of bucks.
And of course, once they have your address you can expect the spam mail follow ups.
Not the kind of site to reinforce your political views.

"This would be opposed the democrat lemmings who all voted for it?"
To be fair ghost, there were 11 democrats who were not lemmings. We conservatives should show our support for these brave souls:
Allan Boyd (D-FL)
Bobby Bright (D-AL)
Jim Cooper (D-TN)
Brad Ellsworth (D-IN)
Parker Griffith (D-AL)
Paul Kanjorski (D-PA)
Frank Kratovil (D-MD)
Walt Minnick (D-ID)
Collin Peterson (D-MN)
Heath Shuler (D-NC)
Gene Taylor (D-MS)
Thank you gentlemen.

Those House Democrats were probably sending a message to Pelosi not to count them in automatically on every pork stuffed bill coming through.
There was no risk for Republicans to show their solidarity with the vote, though, because they had to know the Senate was going to take some of the pork out and make it a little less glaringly obvious that this Congress represents zero change over the last one.
It will be interesting to see that House vote when the bill comes back.

You are right, MG. I would think retrieving merchandise stolen from my home a priority at the time it happened. And I would make every effort to prosecute those guilty as soon as possible. However, I would not wait for several years and only then make it a priority.
I still think, and have said so in this forum, that Bush & Co. should be held accountable for the crimes they committed against America and other countries. I despise the idea that he/they will get away with these crimes. However, in this case, I have to think beyond my own wants and desires. It is not just a matter of me and mine to consider. We, who live in this nation, should be able to put aside me, me, me and strive to do what is best for the majority.
I could be as wrong as the day is long, but I think prosecuting Bush now only serves the need for justice and solves little else. I am, however, open to the idea of keeping Gitmo open and making it a permanent home for Bush, Rove, Chaney and all those overpaid, full of self importance, previously mentioned scumbags. I am being serious.

Wonder why Leonard doesn't ever write about the scores and scores and scores of problems found in almost any country on the African continent ?

That wouldn't serve any useful purpose for his agenda Monica.
