Pitts shows contempt for faithful Christians
Leonard Pitts’ article, “Joe? Janice?” (Feb. 16), again attacks Christian integrity with charges of “mean-spirited” bigotry. This time he rants: “America is increasingly becoming mean-spirited, with politicians and 'alleged’ religious leaders inviting hatred for gays.”
We Bible-believing Christians, the only ones accepted by the Bible itself, love and accept gays like all other sinners, for “we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Their sin, however, is rejected by God in His word, as is all other sin, and must be repented for. Pitts needs to search his own heart for obvious contempt and hate he holds for those believing God’s word. He calls them “alleged” believers, when in reality “alleged” believers are those who reject the oracles of God’s divine sovereignty in preference to their own mundane, humanistic secularism. They reject the fact that thousands of years of history, religion and ethical mores of civilized man are against their self-proclaimed ideology that is in contradiction to the natural order.
I pray Pitts will come to understand the true grace of God, found only in submission to Jesus Christ and believing God’s word.

Mr. Bullard - you kinda answered your own letter, self-proclaiming your ideology as in harmony with natural order. Embarassing huh?

Wonder why Leonard doesn't ever write about the scores and scores of troubling problems found in almost any country on the African continent ?

Monica--Why do you wonder that?

. . . well one thing is true about Americans: they hate everything as equally as they love themselves . . .

"Their sin, however, is rejected by God in His word, as is all other sin, and must be repented for."
Why don't you leave that repentance bit up to God Mr. Bullard?

What I can never figure out is why anyone who disagrees with homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle is automatically characterized as hateful. Have we become such a pc world that it's hateful to disagree? Many Christian denominations view homosexuality as a sin, and view many other behaviors, i.e. lying, cheating, stealing, greed, lust, etc, etc, as sin as well. And, as followers of Christ, we are to turn from sin and repent. We aren't to hate sinners, anymore than we'd want anyone to hate us, because we are sinners too. But we don't have to accept homosexuality as ok, anymore than we can accept any of our own sins as ok. Does that mean we hate homosexuals? No! Does it mean we can accept them as members of our church? Well, sure, as long as they, like the rest of us, are doing their darndest to turn from their sin. But to say, "Ok, you and your significant other can worship with us, even though you reject God's Word concerning your sin" would be blasphemous for the rest of the congregation. So no, they wouldn't be allowed. They don't want to repent. They want God to change His mind. But because we reject their membership does that mean we hate them? No. That's just another example of demonizing Christians, something that seems to be the national sport these days.

Ah, yet another letter trying to get gays to repent. With all the problems in the world today, looks like other issues would be at the top of the list.
I don't imagine that any gay person would want to attend a church who considers them sinners. Soooo, you folks believe as you must. Just stop writing letters to the editor, and to the editor...enough is enough.

"I don't imagine that any gay person would want to attend a church who considers them sinners."
Church IS for sinners, Carol. People attend with a mind towards repentance.
Of course, because there is disagreement, we should just stop writing letters to the editor. We should just be quiet. I would suggest that there are many topics that I don't agree with you on, yet I've never told you to stop writing. Why are you being so...hateful?
