Adults spoiled the day for kids at city egg hunt

Your Easter egg hunt story by Nancy H. McLaughlin (April 5) needs more truth — like the adults who acted like sharks in a feeding frenzy.

Children got trampled or hurt and needed medical care. The police could not get medical assistance to the field. My grandson got a black eye from one such adult and a broken heart.
This was not thought out at all and endangered the children. The whole truth should be reported and adults need to see what animals they were and be ashamed of the example they set.

Adults can muck up any kid-related event by behaving badly. They have been doing it since the inception of any competitive sport/event. It's like adults cannot accept failure of any kind in their children. Most kids participate for the fun of it. Too bad kids can't teach their parents the simple concept of sportsmanship and fun.

Carolyn, organize an egg hunt and invite only family and friends. No need for police, medical personnel, or obnoxious adults.

Beware anything (and I mean ANYTHING) that has been 'community organized'.

Hey Granny -
Instead of taking these kids to the next Easter egg hunt why not take them into a nice restaurant where they can seek revenge on adults by screaming, crying, and whining ?

. . . I don't ever remember the Apostle Eastrer Bunny or anyone eating Easter eggs at the last supper . . . or at the surprise dinner after he woke up from his big sleep . . . odd

Every single time I'm having a good time I always ask myself, "how can this be ruined?"

And it's when there's any other member of the human race between me and the horizon.

Maybe it's better to give moments than to seek them...

My wife wanted to go to this event with the kids but she knows I can't stand crowds. Thank goodness we didn't, I heard it was designed for around 1800 people and around 5000 showed up. No thanks.

Our church will do an Easter egg hunt on Sunday and the adults will watch from the sideline. Neocon is correct, organize or attend an event like this where you know what you can expect.

I agree with Yvonne but might add that adults have this bizarre tendency to compete fiercely over something that is free. I saw the same phenomena at a basketball game when they threw t-shirts into the crowd, people would trample others to get the "prize" and even rip it out of someone elses hands. Pathetic.

gosh, i see that all the deep thinkers are talking about an egg hunt today....and dan, after a busy work day yesterday, i see you're rested and up early ready to spend another useless day trolling away; have fun.

neocon [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

gosh Dan, I think truman has a crush on you...

truman [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

gosh no, neocon. it's not just dan. i'm out to get all you far out right-wingers! and you neocon, are a leader of the band! so i may attempt to verbally abuse what you think from time to time. but, gosh, don't get mentally upset about it. please.

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

gosh Neo, how come I always end up with the secret admirers?

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

gosh Neo, since you are now the designated leader of the right wing conspiracy then will you take the role of recipient of secret admirers please? Gosh after all, I've been doing for quite awhile. It's time to pass the torch.

Not sure...are you an Aqua Velva man?

I've always dreamed of being the leader of a band. Mitch Miller was one of my very firstest heroes...

I was mesmerized by that little bouncing red ball...

'Then Daddy came in to kiss his little man, with gin on his breath and a bible in his hand, he talked about honor and things I should know, then he'd stumble a little as he went out the door'...

I don’t go to public events in Greensboro anymore. They are poorly planned and poorly supervised. The towns and churches do a better job. Family organized events are definitely the safest and end up being the most enjoyable in my opinion.

Real interesting to see the goal of some of you is to disrespect others exercising their right to public discussion. So which college and which professors are teaching this form of debate? My professors taught respect for all opinions and to debate on the merits of your position on the issue. I guess that’s old fashioned now.

old soldier, rightwingers don't discuss, they cuss.

Remind you of Sweet Pea Neo? Sure miss him.

don't get MENTALLY upset, neo. I guess he wants you to crap yourself.

Adults like those described in this letter are why I refuse to grow up. I'll take a toys-r-us gift card for my birthday this year.

Sooooo, truman, you're planning to verbally abuse someone because they hold a different political ideology than you? Wait, no. You are going to verbally abuse what they think. Wow, that's quite a tall order.

Nice. Way to open and expand that mind of yours. At least you're honest, though.

I especially liked the part where you called someone else a troll. Such delicious irony.

I'd give you about a 6 on the 10 scale. No, let me raise that to a 7.5- the complete absence of any proper capitalization attempt is worth a point and a half. Had you also left out all forms of punctuation, you would have been looking at at least a 9.

Dan [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

You can either ignore trolls or have fun with them. In this thread Neo and I had fun. But I do agree with your post justsomedude.

Bring Sweet Pea back.

neocon [TypeKey Profile Page] said:

Ah...Sweet Pea. Those were the days...

I could count on getting called an uneducated, bigoted, racist, right wing lobotomized homophobe, who used Ann Coulter and Michael Savage as my main source of news on nearly every other post.

I think I'm losing my touch. The best I rate now is 'potted plant'. No fun at all.

Must be me getting mellower as I age.
