Where is GOP headed?
Thank you, Danny Glenn, for your Counterpoint response to Charles Davenport’s “Where’s the outrage?” column. You certainly articulated what I have felt in the ongoing firestorm of Rush Republicanism. We are where we are because of the reign of Bush/Cheney. A follow-up question might be, “Where, indeed, is the Republican Party headed?”

They are headed wherever they chose to go........seems simple enough to me.

They're going to sit back and let a tapped out nation turn against an arrogant negro that spoke our demise into existence.

Most of them are headed to work to pay for the bamster's rescue mission.

"Rush Republicanism." I recently came across "Rushpublican."
Ms. Duell, a column recently talked about the Republican Party's contraction in most areas of the nation, with the exception of the South. It seems that the party's strength lies in the South. I think that there is a strong correlation between the South's non-embrace of education and the region's history to explain the GOP's strength. It's no mystery that Sen. Mitch McConnell of KY, holds the position that he does. Everytime that I see that gentleman, I am reminded of Sen. Helms. Must be the mannerisms. And we know how Sen. Helms embodied all of those noble strengths of the GOP. You know, the ones about keeping the coloreds in their place, keeping your voting bloc stirred up and not too highly educated and keeping the gentry well heeled.

The daily conundrum spiel; southern + conservative = racist. ZZZZZZZZZZZ

"southern + conservative = racist." Okay, Dan. I am wrong and you are right. Humor me and enlighten me on the GOP's strength in the South.

The Demmylibs overlooked one little detail about paying for Obama's social give away.
The 48% that did not vote for him will have to pay 48% of the give away.

Q: Where is the Republican Party headed?
A: Wherever elephants go to die.

Personally I put my faith in Senator Robert Byrd. We need to get him here to represent NC. I mean let's not forget his standing in the KKK. And while we are at it lets bring Senator Kennedy as well, he can teach swimming lessons at the Y. And maybe we can get Slobberin Barney to run BOFA. And let's not forget Rangle to help with taxes. Con if it so bad here why do people like you stay, move to the north. It amazes me that the South is so stupid and backward yet you never hear of people retiring to scenic places like Detroit.

Sounds like more from the sore winners.
Well put Dan!

I didn't deny the GOP has a strength in the South conundrum. And with the right people in place with the right message it would have strength in other parts of the country. It's been done before:

My beef is you ALWAYS have to bring the issue of racism into ALL of your posts even when it isn't the subject of the letter. And you make the assumption if one is Southern + conservative he/she must be a racist. You know, the ones about keeping the coloreds in their place. Well it isn't true.
I'm thankful I can see people for their character (or lack thereof) and not by their skin color as Dr. King Jr. wished. Must be a sad life waking up to such a racist worldview every morning.

Sheila, you ask the question,"Where, indeed, is the Republican Party headed?" And now you have received responses from a few of the right-wingnuts who post on this site! So on display here, in all of its uncivilized glory, is the way "reicht"-wingers attempt to hold their own in a discussion of facts that are inconvenient to their ignorance! Reading their responses to your question convinces me that this site is "Fools' Paradise" for them. And their GOP is now the perfect size to drown in the small tea cup displayed at the recent, local Teabaggers' Protest meeting! So continue to speak out firerescuechick, gunch, neocon, dan, ironhead, one, ghost, et al. Y'all make me laugh!

I suspect that, long-term, the Grand Old Party will emerge from its current deteriorated state in stronger (and better) shape than it has been since the 1970s, when true conservative principles were embraced by the party. This meant fiscal responsibility (at least as much so as a government ever will be) and a deeply-held belief that government has no business involving itself in the lives of its citizens. No Teri Schiavo nonsense, in other words, or concerning itself with who marries whom (or what). The one-third (or so) of the GOPs current membership that have in the last twenty years or so come to believe that the ONLY functions of the federal government should be to force people to live the way they want them to live and to kill black, brown and yellow people will either grumble and go along or split off and form their own party, which I suggest they officially christen "The Nutcase Delusional Party (NDP)."
Even if the crazies split off, I think that in ten to fifteen years, the GOP will be stronger than it is right now, because once they either jettison or silence the nutcases, the party will be far more appealing to independents and even moderate Democrats.

"Must be a sad life waking up to such a racist worldview every morning." Actually, it isn't.
"Con if it so bad here why do people like you stay, move to the north." Reminds me of poem by Langston Hughes:
The lazy, laughing South
With blood on its mouth.
And I, who am black, would love her
But she spits in my face.
And I, who am black,
Would give her many rare gifts
But she turns her back upon me.
So now I seek the North
The cold-faced North,
For she, they say,
Is a kinder mistress,
And in her house my children
May escape the spell of the South.
It sounds much better when Morgan Freeman is reciting it.

"...and to kill black, brown and yellow people..."
Amazing how the race card is being played in this thread. Tony claims a third of Republicans want to kill black, brown and yellow people. Actually the beginning of your post made good sense, too bad you lost the message with nonsense like that statement Tony.
************************************************
"Actually, it isn't."
Different strokes for different folks. Thanks for admitting it though.
The poem by Langston Hughes was written in the 1920's and I find it relevant for that time. No insult intended but folks like you seem to think nothing has changed in the country, particularly the South, since that time.
How come you left out part of the poem?
The lazy, laughing South
With blood on its mouth.
The sunny-faced South,
Beast-strong,
Idiot-brained.
The child-minded South
Scratching in the dead fire's ashes
For a Negro's bones.
Cotton and the moon,
Warmth, earth, warmth,
The sky, the sun, the stars,
The magnolia-scented South.
Beautiful, like a woman,
Seductive as a dark-eyed whore,
Passionate, cruel,
Honey-lipped, syphilitic—
That is the South.
And I, who am black, would love her
But she spits in my face.
And I, who am black,
Would give her many rare gifts
But she turns her back upon me.
So now I seek the North
The cold-faced North,
For she, they say,
Is a kinder mistress,
And in her house my children
May escape the spell of the South

Why must everyone assume that conservative = Republican?
Posted on May 1, 2009 2:04 PM
BTW Tony, let's assume a majority of Rs are white. Since black people vote D at 90% or more that's a safe assumption. Looking at this link of homicides by race, black on black murders are consistently the same, as are white on white murders.
So whites aren't killing blacks, blacks are!!
Using the most recent year given, 2005, 42.2% of homicides were black on black. 44.6% white on white.
3.2% were white on black. 8.8% were black on white. I believe blacks represent around 15% of the population yet they kill whites at more than twice the percentage as whites kill them.
If I used your misguided logic I could claim that blacks want to kill whites, but I don't find this conclusion logical as you did.
http://www.ojp.gov/bjs/homicide/tables/ovracetab.htm
These figures kinda negate your argument that a third of Republicans want to kill black people but I'd love to see how you can employ some race card spin to the stats.
I won't get into the number of blacks who are killed in the womb by their mothers.
Gotta go now, on my way to meet my black "Little Brother" for some fun time together!!

Truman, why was I lumped in with neo, dan, ghost, and the others? My statement was just a general one. I'm neither conservative or liberal. I consider myself in the middle. So please, know what or whom you are talking about before open your mouth.

Dan,
Good troll article on trolls, but what are you doing on a Linux Site?
Tell the truth. You have a pocket protector and still know how to use a slide rule.
Posted on May 1, 2009 4:25 PM
I must tell the truth Sir Firefly, roger posted that link a month or so ago. liked it so much that I bookmarked it.
No pocket protector, I'm a UNC grad, perhaps rahrah has one.

Dan,
I take that as a dig on NCSU grads--like me. I can use a sliderule. I learned in High School.
Has rahrah graduated? We get our pocket protectors with our diplomas.

Dig intended verelse. My older and younger sisters are NCSU grads so I'm sandwiched on each side. I get a lot of digs from them, except when it comes to basketball, they seem very quiet when that subject comes up.

Dan, it's waste of breath to explain the obvious (and even history) to someone whose entire persona is completely invested in *not* understanding things, who lives in fear of finding out that the world is what it is rather than what he *thinks* it is, or what some fat, ignorant, loudmouthed drug addict has told him it is (same thing, most likely).

"Why must everyone assume that conservative = Republican?"
Actually, nothing could be further from the truth; beginning in the early '80s, the Republican Party began its transformation (thank you, Ronnie Raygun!) into something that could by no stretch of the imagination be labeled conservative, but that more nearly conformed to Fascism in the classic (and original Italian sense). Intermingling of the interests of government and multinational corporations, increased government spending while transferring more and more of the tax burden from the super-rich to the middle class), and increasing interference in the personal lives of its citizens.
Many conservatives, who surely have been aware of this for nearly 30 years, are now beginning to question this direction (the Raygun nuttiness, including "voodoo economics" as G. H. W. Bush called it in 1980) and I believe there is a real possibility that true conservatives may regain control of the Republican Party in the next decade or two. Personally, I think this would be a positive development, as the closest thing to a truly conservative political party now is the Libertarian Party, and although they make a lot of sense on many issues, they're also crazy on certain issues (i.e., the government should provide no services at all other than a military; no fire departments, no police departments, no social safety net, etc.). And I think that *any* government needs a truly conservative political party with some strength, as either left or right unrestrained is trouble waiting to happen.

Nice spin Tony Tony!!!!!
You said 1/3 of R's want to kill people of color, I provided FACTS that more people of color kill themselves and white people for the matter. You respond with drivel about fear of finding out something or other about the world and link to Limbaugh dictating something to me.
Your pants are down Tony and the sight isn't pretty. Pull 'em back up, that is the most pathetic rebuttal I've seen on this blog this year.
Posted on May 3, 2009 8:38 PM
"You said 1/3 of R's want to kill people of color, I provided FACTS that more people of color kill themselves and white people for the matter."
I will say, Dan, to be picky, that you have not done this. You have given 'FACTS' that a higher percentage of people of color do this. Until you convert these percentages to populations...well, you haven't done what you have said you have done.
Posted on May 3, 2009 10:11 PM
Bored tonight & trawling older threads rahrah? Hey, that other team from the RBC Center, the one I pull for, just won a game.
I'll let your youngNCSU mind calculate percentages of people of color. But here is the stat again from the provided link:
"3.2% were white on black. 8.8% were black on white. I believe blacks represent around 15% of the population yet they kill whites at more than twice the percentage as whites kill them."
That isn't my primary point in the last post. It's that Mr. Tony claims 1/3 of R's seem to want to kill people of color and his pathetic response to his claim armed with Limbaugh conjecture. Care to defend either?
Posted on May 3, 2009 10:23 PM
I won't defend Ledford's stuff. I will say that your murder rates might not be relevant to his point. I get the impression that when he's talking about killing 'people of color,' that he means people in other nations.
Posted on May 3, 2009 11:31 PM
Got it, 1/3 of R's want to kill people of color, but only in other nations. Still doesn't make sense.
With the exception of the current admin. killing 3 Somali pirates, justly so, have we been on a killing rampage in Africa? Nope, we've helped Africa tremendously of late in combating HIV. Yellow skin? Nope, the Chinese are killing us economically and we are handing them the rope to do it. Ah, ha, Middle Easterners, they are a bit darker. We must be in Afghanistan & Iraq because of their skin color!! Got it.
Throw some more s**t on a different wall and see if it sticks.

Posted on May 4, 2009 3:04 PM
"Dan, I don't wear pants this time of year,..."
Why am I not surprised?
Still standing by your contention that 1/3 of R's want to see black, brown and yellow people killed?
