Taking a swing at a good deal
For those just starting out in golf, here's a pretty good deal on clubs.
Target is selling the Cougar X-Cat golf set including three graphite-shaft woods, eight oversized irons, putter, bag with stand, four head covers and a rain cover for $89.99.
For the kids, Target has the X-Cat junior 3+1 set for $29.99

Bet they won't stock any left-handed clubs though. I've found that a lot of the big chain stores I frequent under-stock or don't even bother with left-handed gear. (Try finding a left-handed racquet ball glove in your local Target, I dare you.)
Exception to the rule: Dick's Sporting Goods, where I bought my starter set of clubs on the cheap.

You're right - lefties tend to get the short shaft when it comes to club selection at department store chains.
Eric Heisler, a former co-worker and lefty, was just getting into the game a few years ago and was running into the same problem.
He wound up buying a used set from a locally-owned golf shop in North Myrtle Beach for under $100.
