Spay, neuter and insure your pet?

So Fido swallows a golf ball or breaks a leg.

But taking your beloved pooch to the vet might also break your wallet.

Pet insurance to the rescue!

Anna (left) and Laika, both insured, are happy to report their owners have more money for dog treats.

You may be painfully aware of how much it costs to fix a dog's broken leg, for example.

You could be talking around $2,000.

That's where pet insurance comes in.

Is it a bargain? I'd say so, but you'll need to do a little research to see if it's worth it in your case.

But the industry is growing. More companies are starting to provide pet insurance too.
