Barbecue bacon burger bargain
Mel Umbarger writes in her food blog and her column in today's life section about a hamburger recipe that sounds outstanding.
And I've got just the thing to top it off: a bargain on meat.

Do not try this at home.
Southern Family Markets (recently incorporated retail arm of C&S Wholesale), has ground chuck on sale for $1.29 a pound.
Ground chuck, by the way, is the preferred choice of meat for burgers, according to the Food Network. Feel free to mention that pearl of wisdom at cocktail parties to break the ice.
The recipe also calls for Oscar Mayer center cut bacon.
Southern Family has Oscar Mayer regular or thick cut bacon on sale for $3.99 a pound. Not sure what the difference in taste is, so consult with the expert.
