Camcorder for under $100

Best Buy has an Aiptek digital camcorder for $90 (regular $150). The best part is it's "instant savings," so you're not dealing with that annoying mail-in rebate stuff.

Customer reviews have varied from a lot of features for your money to you get what you pay for. But the customer reviews tend to be more favorable than negative, at least according to feedback submitted at Circuit City and Cnet.

Sale ends Saturday.

Video game deals

Buy two select PS2 or Xbox video games at Best Buy and get a $15 gift card. I'd recommend getting "The Godfather" ($40) and "Black" ($40).

We reviewed both games as part of the "GameBuzz" podcast. Listen to the Godfather review here.

A Father's Day gift with some meat on it

Impress your dad by throwing some ribeye steaks on the grill for Father's Day. And make him proud by not singeing your eyebrows off this time.

They're on sale for $6 a pound at Food Lion this week (regular $10 a pound). Throw in some corn (10 for $2), brews (Michelob's on sale for $8 a 12-pack) and ice cream (Edy's on sale - 3 for $5), and he just might get choked up. Or he just might have something in his eye.

Trading in your laptop

You can trade in your Sony notebook and get up to $454 off the purchase of anything at SonyStyle.com, according to dealnews.com.

Here's how it works: Once you've used Sony's online estimator to learn your laptop's value, mail it in or take it to a Sony store and get an e-coupon good toward your next product purchase at SonyStyle.com. Keep in mind, however, that most laptops are worth far less than $454, according to the estimator.

Cheap Eats

Hayble's Hearth in Greensboro off Spring Garden is a "Cheap Eats" fav.

Prices are $6-$8.

"Inside, the atmosphere is exactly the same as every family dinner I've had at my grandmother's house. And that's what they're going for," writes Luke McIntyre.

Cheap Eats, by the way, runs every other week in Go Triad and the entertainment Web site's newspaper version in Thursday's News & Record.

What to feed the office microwave

Just put down the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, son, and no one will get hurt. Got something better for you to chow down in the office cubicle. And it's for adults!

One of my all-time lunch-on-the-run favs is back on sale - Michelina's frozen dinners.

Food Lion has a 10 for $10 deal while Harris Teeter has a buy one, get one free deal on the "Lean Gourmet" brands.

Midnight madness

Dealcatcher.com reports CompUSA is having a "midnight madness" sale tonight from 6 p.m. to midnight.

One sale in particular caught my eye: A Compaq Presario notebook for $600 (regular $1,030), but only from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Includes a DVD and CD burner, 512 MB RAM and 100 GB hard drive.

But there's a catch (isn't there always?) - you have to deal with the dreaded mail-in rebate stuff. So if you have the bucks up front and the patience to deal with mail-in rebates, this might turn out to be a pretty good deal.
