Exchange to save some change
Exchanging movies, books, clothes and CDs versus buying them new can save you a good chunk of change.
MarketWatch's Marshall Loeb suggests checking out these Web sites:
Paperbackswap.com. Any book you choose will be shipped to you free of charge, although you're responsible for paying to ship your books.
Swapstyle.com. Swap, buy or sell clothing. The membership is $19.95 a year.
Eswapnow.com. A global trading hub that lets users swap their old and unwanted media. Registration is free. Traders pay for postage, unless they choose to buy extra credits.
In the Triad, you also might want to check out Edward McKay Used Books and More, which has stores in Greensboro and Winston-Salem.
You can exchange CDs, books, DVDs, video games for cash or store credit (more bang for your buck if you opt for store credit).
And don't forget garage sales. While it means getting up early on a Saturday morning, it's worth the price. You can save a wad of cash on stuff. I recently bought a full-size camera tripod in excellent condition for $4.75 at a garage sale in Greensboro. Plus some Bose computer speakers for $5.
