Not going down without a fight

The odds-on favorite to be crowned the heavyweight hi-def video champion of the world is the Sony-backed Blu-ray DVD format.

What some industry experts believe is the final blow to the HD DVD format comes recent news Warner Bros. Entertainment said it would stop publishing movies on HD DVD in May.

We'll see. But Toshiba's not going down without a fight. The company this week is hoping cutting prices on its HD DVD players will help keep it from being KO'd by Sony. Prices on Toshiba's players are now as low as $149.99, unheard of less than a year ago.
