Catching a movie at the drive-in
Blurb in today's Go Triad magazine (page 4) mentions Drive-in Movie Night at Northeast Park in Gibsonville for $2. Kicking off the Friday night series is "The Wizard of Oz," the 1939 classic starring Judy Garland. Starts at 9.
I haven't stepped foot in a drive-in since high school, and pretty much thought they went the way of the dinosaur and telephone booths. Not quite, according an NPR story in April:
"In this era of video iPods and minivan DVD players, a renaissance in the drive-in movie business seems unlikely. But in the past decade, nearly 100 drive-in movie theaters have opened or re-opened."

There's a real drive-in theater up in Eden. I've never been, but mean to one of these days. They've been showing The Dark Knight as part of their double features since it opened. That could be fun!

$5 for adults, $2 for kids gets you a double feature of new releases.
Audio is through your car radio via FM (not those old fasioned speaker boxes).

PS to above - bringing your own food (and even beer) is welcomed, although they also have a snack bar/grill with many choices.
This weekend's double feature is Hancock Followed by The Dark Knight.
Wow, this may be my weekend to go!

My wife and I are heading up to the Eden drive-in tonight to see Hancock and The Dark Knight. It's our fifth wedding anniversary, and this seemed like a great way to celebrate.
