An iPhone for $99? Not so fast

As mentioned by Sue at Taking Stock, Bloomberg is reporting Walmart will begin selling a cheaper version of Apple's iPhone (4GB) by the end of the year.

“A $99, Apple-branded cell phone is inevitable,” Shaw Wu, an analyst for Kaufman Brothers in San Francisco, told Bloomberg.

Not so fast. When I mentioned this to a co-worker, a tech geek and worshiper at the altar of all things Mac, he referred me to a Web site about Mac rumors that just doesn't buy it.

Neither does Wired:

"The 4GB part of this rumor irks, also. Name one other product line from Apple which has seen a memory decrease. You can't."
