Still a sweet deal for some executives
Scott Livengood's gone as Krispy Kreme CEO, and the corporate jet was sold for $30 million. But life can still be good if you're the corporate counsel for Krispy Kreme.
GCSouth, a magazine for corporate counsels, says that Frank Murphy made $421,767 as Krispy Kreme's general counsel in 2004.
The company's problems will keep him plenty busy, though, so he'll likely be earning that money in the future.

If he is anything like the one public company general counsel I know personally, he will earn every penny of that compensation and will work ridiculously long hours. I can't imagine that the lot of them (general counsels) aren't working as hard, given the regulatory environment they find themselves in these days due to SOX/Reg FD.

You may be right about that, Mark. Frank Murphy may long for those days at the corporate law firm, with all the scrutiny his current client is getting.
