The Ugly Factor
To attract people and jobs, the Triad needs a face lift.
Specifically, it needs more lakes, mountains and maybe an ocean. Turns out natural amenities = economic prosperity according to a report by the Economic Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Folks need to appreciate what we have here. If you think this area is ugly I invite you to travel outside of North Carolina more than you have. The dense green trees, lush lawns, gorgeous flowers and more are not found in many parts of the world. Many visitors to our area think the name Greensboro comes from all the green you see around you in nature. The area might not have the mountains and the sea but we've got a ton of great viewing if one opens their eyes and looks around more
