Zoning roundup
** Note: If you looked for this post early this morning and it wasn't on the site, my apologies. For some reason, it didn't actually go up last night when I saved it. **
Monday's meeting of the Greensboro Zoning Commission was fairly low-key. The commission took up 11 rezoning proposals - three of which you read about in today's paper. Proposals reached far beyond the Urban Loop, however. Find a roundup of Monday's events after the jump:
Zoning officials didn't take up a proposal for up to 268 apartments at 1 and 6 Marithe Court, on the south side of Kroger Boulevard. The applicant asked for a continuance of up to 60 days on these Kroger Boulevard Apartments to work out a kink, as there's a restriction on the property that might require it to be used for office or warehouse facilities.
The commission unanimously approved the annexation and rezoning of 0.2 acres at 2522 McKnight Mill Road for street access for the Thornton Subdivision. The annexation will come up again at a public hearing at the July 31 meeting of the City Council.
Officials unanimously approved a rezoning of 0.27 acres at 2811 N. Church St. for a neighborhood business. The property previously was zoned residential.
Zoning officials rubber-stamped three projects near the Urban Loop - two proposed by Roy Carroll business interests and one proposed by Seth Coker of Signature Developments. For more, see today's story. All three projects will come before the City Council on July 31.
The commission approved the rezoning of 0.2 acres for Hinshaw Memorial United Methodist Church on High Point Road. The church plans to use the extra property for a freestanding sign.
Officials approved a rezoning of about 2.4 acres at 1228 Oakland Avenue for residential or mixed-use development. Up to 59 homes could go up on the property.
The commission approved a rezoning for a town home development at 6417 W. Friendly Ave. The development would include up to 27 town homes for sale.
The board approved a rezoning for the expansion of a dealership on Treva Drive and Cox Boulevard. The dealership hopes to add a body shop.
The commission approved a request to rezone about 0.4 acres at 3420 N. Church Street for business uses. The applicant hopes to use the land for a daycare center to serve the surrounding community, which includes a recently approved condo project at Church and Berryman streets.
Zoning officials approved a rezoning of nearly an acre on the east side of Primrose Avenue between Princess and Prince roads. The rezoning basically changed the permitted density on the property - from 3 homes per acre to 5 homes per acre.
