Biz-focused bank could open in Greensboro

A proposed bank that could open here before the year's end would focus on banking for small and mid-size businesses throughout the Triad.

Premier Commercial Bank would target manufacturing companies, real-estate developers, builders, entrepreneurs and professional service firms. The bank, which is subject to regulatory approval, would serve its business customers through a central location and on-site visits, instead of traditional retail branches.

The bank has not yet released details about its prospective board, but further announcements are expected within coming weeks. Premier's chief executive would be Frank Gavigan, an industry veteran who most recently acted as senior credit officer of 1st State Bank in Burlington.

If approved, Premier would locate its headquarters in Greensboro and plan for additional offices in High Point and Winston-Salem.
