Triad jobless rate falls slightly
RALEIGH - The Triad unemployment rate fell slightly in April - no thanks to Guilford County.
The jobless rate for the 12-county Triad fell from 4.6 percent in March to 4.5 percent last month. But Guilford County's unemployment held steady, at 4.4 percent, even as jobless rates fell in more than half the counties across the state.
Nearly 230,830 workers held jobs in Guilford last month, according to a Friday report from the state Employment Security Commission. About 10,830 people were unemployed here, according to figures that were not seasonally adjusted.
The statewide jobless rate was 4.5 percent for April.

* Alamance: 4.8 percent in April, down from 4.9 percent in March.
* Caswell: 6.2 percent, down from 6.5 percent.
* Davidson: 5.5 percent, up from 5.3 percent.
* Davie: 5.1 percent, up from 3.9 percent.
* Forsyth: 4 percent, down from 4.1 percent.
* Guilford: The only Triad county that held steady - at 4.4 percent.
* Montgomery: 5.9 percent, up from 5.8 percent.
* Randolph: 4.4 percent, up from 4.2 percent.
* Rockingham: 5.8 percent, down from 6 percent.
* Stokes: 4.1 percent, down from 4.3 percent.
* Surry: 4.7 percent, down from 4.9 percent.
* Yadkin: 4.2 percent, up from 4 percent.
Officials will release state unemployment figures from May on June 15.
