North Carolina's K-12 public schools, universities and community colleges have opened their doors to children from Hurricane Katrina-affected areas. The State Board of Education and Department of Public Instruction have advised the state's 115 school systems to register and enroll children in school. Information can be found at www.ncpublicschools.org or by calling 919/807-3300. In addition, Communities in Schools of NC is prepared to work with school systems enrolling students to provide school supplies, mentors and other needs to help students make the transition into schools in North Carolina.Click here for the whole release.
