Maybe more resignations should be asked for, this time from the State Board of Elections:
Just think - Gov Easley had originally considered Bob Cordle for the Lottery Commission.
Can you imagine what would have happened if Cordle was on that commission?
He would have been under some tough scrutiny, especially since his law firm has been the recipient of payments from Speaker Black:
The reports indicate that the Speaker’s political committee spent $9,225.28 with the Chicago-based law firm Mayer Brown Row & Maw from January 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005 (the firm also has a Charlotte office). The same campaign finance reports also indicate the Speaker’s political committee spent $10,000 with the Winston-Salem-based law firm White & Crumpler between January 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005.

But fortunately for Cordle, when the democratic party chair did not renominate Cordle to the Board of Elections, the Governor created and had passed the "Bob Cordle Protection Act".
Governor Easly put a provision in the budget bill to allow him to put anyone on the Board of Elections that he wanted to -

By the way, NC's State Board of Elections also oversees Campaign Finance Reporting.

Every appointee to the lottery commission has received intense scrutiny - imagine if Cordle were under this microscope.
Maybe Bob Cordle should step down from his position on the State Board of Elections, since his firm is employed by someone under investigation that involves campaign donations from lobbyists who benefit from Blacks decisions.
