Dateline Raleigh Update
Nothing fancy, just links to my stories from the past few days:
- The Senate puts a bill to ban video poker on the fast track. Expect a Senate vote on this today (Thursday) and to see the bill land in the House's lap next week. (And a big thank you to my colleague Taft Wireback for helping me to churn this one out.)
- Local arts folks come to talk to Guilford County legislators. They were there as part of a statewide lobbying day on behalf of the arts.
- Gov. Easley released his budget recommendations Tuesday. Think of them as suggestions that the legislature will try to follow but not, you know, all that closely.
- Some local legislators were front and center on the first day of session.
And for good measure, here's one from our friends at the Associated Press that I get asked about a lot: That lawsuit to try and stop the Dell incentives was thrown out.
