Y’all vote
If y’all are planning on voting, you might want to check out Y'all Vote, a link-heavy website run by Charlotte lawyer and former reporter Jon Goldberg.
Goldberg said he was dismayed by the abysmally low voter turnout in the May primary elections and wanted to do his bit to encourage more people to head to the polls this November. Having heard a lot of folks say they didn’t know enough about the candidates to vote, Goldberg decided to set up a clearinghouse through which people could link to local media, party websites and candidate-run pages.
"It's been a lot of work," Goldberg said Wednesday. "You gain a healthy appreciation of how many 100 counties is when you’re doing this."
The site includes links to information on the statewide judicial races, which Goldberg said was a particular concern of his. With not even party affiliation to go on, voters can use some strange criteria in choosing the folks who staff the highest courts in the state.
"It should be based on more than so-and-so has a nice name," he said.
The site accepts no advertising budget and is not affiliated with any campaign or candidate.
