The Ol’ Mailbag
One thing that clutching your pillow asking the fates to have someone come and lop your head off so the sinus headaches will stop keeps you from doing is checking the ol’ e-mail bag. So let’s do that now:
- The state’s sales tax rate goes down by a quarter percent on Friday. (click here for release) That’s a savings of 25-cents per $100. Don’t spend it all in one place.
- The NAACP is organizing “direction action” this weekend (click here for release) in support of the workers at the Smithfield plant.
- Roy Cooper is just tickled pink that meth lab busts are going down, (click here for release), which really, probably is a good thing even if it does make the decongestants that really work a pain to buy.
- Those whacky kids at the state GOP are burning their mortgage tonight. (click here for release)
- From the office of the Banking Commissioner: “Mortgage lenders and mortgage brokers will have new guidelines for so-called “non-traditional” or “exotic” mortgage loan products under proposed guidance issued today by the North Carolina Office of the Commissioner of Banks (NCCOB).” (click here for the full release)
Hate mail, after the jump.
Just because I’m in a sharing mood, here’s the best bit of hate mail I’ve gotten recently. This one in regards to my Sunday story on Edwards. Reprinted without permission and with signature removed:
Dear Mr. Binker:Enjoyed talking with you. You were everything I expected, and less. I mentioned that other senator quit his post to run for president because I had a feeling you would mention Dole. You people are just so predictable. Do you think that if Barak Obama decides to run that he'll give up his seat to concentrate on the run! Only if his internal polls show him with no chance to win.
Let me explain why I detest Edwards. He ran as a moderate who said he would be his own man, and decide on each issue as it came before him. Before the last syllable left his tongue, he was on Ted Kennedy's knee just as Charlie McCarthy was operated by Edgar Bergen. The good people of the "red" state of North Carolina did not not take kindly to his blatant disingenuousness, so Edwards was finished as a senator. Of course, that's not the way you adoring, shameless shills in the "elite" media presented it. What you also never seem to want to point out that no senator has been elected in nearly 50 years. And that senator, was a pro-growth, pro-defense hawk. That breed is extinct in the Demo-rat party. Why do you liberals so fear the truth about your icons?
Would it help if he knew I’m not now, nor have ever been, a registered Democrat and that I’m the son of two long-time somewhat conservative Republicans? Probably not.
