The end of the lottery’s beginning
Three of the North Carolina’s first four lottery games will be going out of play this month. From the lottery:
RALEIGH – The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) officially announces the end of four instant scratch-off games effective Dec. 8. The instant scratch-off games that will end are North Carolina Education Lottery, Tic Tac Toe, $100,000 Carolina Cash and Firecracker Cash.
More after the jump.
“In order to keep the games fresh and exciting and make room for new games the NCEL will continually end instant games and introduce new ones,” said Tom Shaheen, NCEL executive director. “This is a common practice among all lotteries.”In accordance with NCEL policy, all instant game prizes must be claimed within ninety (90) days of the end-of-game date. Therefore, all prizes associated with the games listed below must be claimed on or before March 8, 2007. Claims that are mailed to the NCEL must be received within 90 days of the official end of game date. For these games, the official end of game date is Dec. 8, 2006. Postmarks will not satisfy the 90-day requirement.
For more information, players should visit the official NCEL Web site at www.nc-educationlottery.org, e-mail the NCEL at playerinfo@lotterync.net, or call the Player Hotline at (877) 962-7529.
North Carolina Education Lottery, Tic Tac Toe and $100,000 Carolina cash all rolled out on March 30, 2006 as part of the lottery’s introduction to North Carolina. Their expiration marks a milestone of sorts, I would guess.
