Video slot update
For those following the video slot issue, the House voted 115-2 to ban those sweepstakes-based machines.
One of the two votes against: Greensboro's own Rep. Earl Jones. He even objected to third reading, forcing the House to vote again Wednesday.
Update: Whoever had initially sided with Jones jumped ship. The final vote was 116-1. Jones stood alone.
More on this in the paper tomorrow.

Bizarre.
I was on the short end of a number of 8-1 votes on the Chapel Hill City Council, but jeez. 116 to 1? That smells of something rotten.
What's the scoop behind the story?

I'm still trying to figure out what's up. Rep. Jones does have a certain libertarian streak...he didn't favor outlawing vid poker, didn't want to outlaw payday lenders, etc...
I'll have some audio up from him after I eat dinner.
