Community colleges and illegal immigration (video)
Rep. Pricey Harrison, a Greensboro Democrat, has filed H 362, which would require the community college system to admit the children of illegal aliens.
The N.C. Community College System is studying the issue of admitting the children of undocumented workers per a directive by the State Board of Community Colleges. That study is due to be out this spring, although folks on both sides of the issue seem to think the system will largely defer to the General Assembly.
Harrison's is the first bill to allow children of illegal immigrants in as far as I know. Legislation to the opposite effect (keeping children of illegal immigrants out) has been filed by Republicans in the House and by Republican Sen. Phil Berger of Rockingham County in the Senate.
Harrison said she wanted to send a signal to the community college system and others that there were people in the legislature who felt differently from the sponsors of the other bills.

its imperative that we deny them an education, we must keep ignorant - else who will mow our lawns, prune our shrubbery, pick our crops, bus our restaurant tables, clean our toilets ???

What this witch does not say, these people are law breakers. The word is ILLEGAL.
So lets say you live in Virginia, served in the military, worked and paid taxes all your life, your children would pay FULL TUTION, if you jumped the boarder, last night the illegals would get in state tuition!!!!!
What she should be saying is, rounding the ILLEGALS up and send them home.
Binker, why do you not stick your thumb in your mouth and blow real hard, and ask the witch why she does not force ILLEGALS to get car insurance!!!!

Doug: I understand you feel passionately about the topic, and in fact I know you're able to make a pretty good case for your view point when you put your mind to it.
However, I'm asking as a favor and a nod toward civility that you refrain from name-calling when you comment on this blog. It doesn't do justice to your intelligence, brings no value to your argument and is unbecoming to civilized discourse. It also may violate our terms of service agreement.
I welcome and value your viewpoint and would not want to have to consider banning your comments over something picayune.
