A busy month

Good thing the Guilford County Board of Education doesn't get paid by the hour. If they did, we, the taxpayers, might go broke this month.

The board has eight meetings set for September, including the already-completed Sept. 1 emergency meeting to discuss the effects of Hurricane Katrina:

- Tuesday, Sept. 13: Regular board meeting, GCS Central Office, 5:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Sept. 15: Redistricting meeting, Northeast High School, 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Sept. 20: Redistricting meeting, Penn-Griffin Middle School, 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 24: Fall retreat, GCS Central Office, Time TBA
- Sunday, Sept. 25: Fall retreat, GCS Central Office, Time TBA
- Tuesday, Sept. 27: Redistricting meeting, Northwest High School, 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Sept. 29: Regular board meeting, GCS Central Office, 5:30 p.m.

I would like the school board to add one more location for a meeting in September.

Southwest Guilford High School would be a good place for this meeting.

I believe that the school board is afraid to hold a meeting at this location.

The last meeting there we only had a thousand people, but since then mr. Grier and the school board have PISSED off the rest of High Point, so I would plan for at least another thousand Irate taxpayers.

We could move it outside to the football stadium to accomodate the over flow crowd that will attend this meeting.

People from all corners of High Point will attend this meeting to show their DISGUST with the current Superintendent and the lack of representation from the High Point school board members.

People of High Point Wake Up!!!!!!!!!!!

Your children are being treated with less respect than the children in Greensboro.

Why should your child be tossed into some foolish lab experiment such as the choice plan, when Greensboro children go to school in their own neighborhood???????????

Are High Point Citizens less intelligent than those in Greensboro??

PLEASE, plan the meeting at Southwest, Force all board members to attend, and don't forget to invite grier.

People in High Point want Neighborhood schools, nothing more,,,,, nothing less.

All excellent comments as usual General Slak. I think it is time for the next North High Point School Board Meeting.

We need to e-mail everyone off-line.

The Board will love September. They make a big deal out of redistricting. For over 100 years, we have had districts. If you have unused capacity at one place and over-crowding at another place, adjustments have to be made. It is simple. How many public hearings have you heard about reading or academic achievement. I am sorry to say this school stirs up problems and then tries to solve them. They are never on the right message.

Joe, agree completely. They should just keep it simple.
I am afraid it will not happen though. They just dont like SWGH parents and are determined to upset them as much as they can.
I will be at Penn Griffin. No need for it to be at SW.
