My dinner with Terry
Guilford County Schools Superintendent Terry Grier is the next dinner guest at SynerG's "Making Connections Around the Table" event on Oct. 12.
This series of events gives folks a chance to listen to and meet local newsmakers over dinner. Other speakers in the monthly series have included ACC commissioner John Swofford, A&T chancellor Jim Renick and HPU president Nido Qubein.
The event starts at 6 p.m. and will be held at the O. Henry Hotel in Greensboro.
The cost is $40 per person. For reservations, click here or call 379-0821.

Take your Pepcid AC!
Just so you know, the AC stands for "before meal". Sometimes, under the right circumstances those little bits of undigested food particles tend to want to come right back up...Be careful is all I'm saying.
You also might want to make sure you're up to date on CPR and the Heimlich procedure. Ya know, just in case. The life you save could be your own. There actually is a way to perform the Heimlich on yourself if that situation should arise. You may want to look that up before you go. Or maybe just make sure that you order something that doesn't require a lot of chewing of small bites. Soup is always a safe option for outings like these where you may have to swallow more than just what's on your plate.
Oh, and you do have a current life insurance policy, right? Wouldn't want that new bride to be widowed without proper coverage.
I'm sure you'll have a great time. Don't get me wrong, I want you to enjoy yourself, I'm just recommending that you go with fun and enlightenment in mind, but always be prepared for the worst. You were a Boy Scout right? Sorry I'm such a worry-wart. (It probably wouldn't hurt to just swing by the Health Dept. on the way and go ahead and get a Tetanus booster, too).
Hey, bottom line--have fun! And tell Terry "hey" for me. K?

Well, um, thanks for your concern...I think.
Actually, the headline may be a little misleading -- my mistake. I'm not planning on attending this event, although it is open to the public and anyone who wants to pay 40 bucks can go, although Worry Wart says you'll be taking your life into your own hands.
The headline is a pun (or an attempt at a pun) on the early 1980s movie, "My Dinner with Andre." This was a weird but critically acclaimed film in which nothing happens - just two people sitting around a dinner table talking.

Bruce,
I'd say you just summed up the activities of the School board - just people sitting around and nothing happens.

Bruce, how could you even think of not going to this event? Don't you know people ie; (teachers and educators) in OTHER parts of the country (like Viginia)pay hundreds of dollars to hear Grier expound on his innovative curicula and and educational labradoodles (dogs that are half lab-half poodle). After his lectures they pat him on the back and say "you innovative little rascal"
(actually by this time, it's at the cocktail party after the event and the person slapping his back uses stronger language than 'rascal" but this is a public web site) Little does this backslapper know, that the great innovator has been running his system into the ground because he doesn't have the first clue of how to administrate, inspire loyalty or accept responsibility in the real world. So, Bruce, it's a bargain at $40. I'd take it.

Under no Circumstances should griers' name be mentioned in the same article as Nido Qubeins.
Qubein is a man of honesty and integrity, whos' innovative ideas are a benchmark for the future.
griers' actions as Superintendent have proven that he is a deceptive Snake in the Grass, whos' Self-Gratification is his # 1 Priority.
griers best interview would probably be located at the Waffle House in the Motel Six parking lot.

SneryG's status is falling fast if you are going from Nido Qubein to Terry Grier.
Mr. Qubein has given back to the community many times over what he has received from the community. Dr. Grier just sucks the life out of every community he happens to be passing through. Just "Google" his name, the facts speak for themselves. Grier has really found the Mother Lode in Guilford County.

General,
I've heard about a new posse in town. They are looking forward to their next mission. It is my understanding that a couple of the members are quite brave and don't mind going to the front lines.
They have collected several hundred yellow & black "soldiers" for mission code name: MAKE IT OR BREAK IT. They also have a few extras on hand and are planning a mission called: MAKING CONNECTIONS UNDER THE TABLE.
They hope these missions do not interfere with anything you have planned. I think you would approve of this posse and I hope you enjoy their work: past, present and future.
This message will probably not self-destruct.

Oops.
That 2nd mission will be called: MAKING CONNECTIONS AROUND THE TABLE, not UNDER the table.
My bad.
