Charlotte school whistle-blower sues
Interesting story out of Charlotte today: A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg assistant principal is suing the school system, saying she was mistreated and threatened after she exposed wrongdoing at Independence High School.
Former assistant principal Randi Imbriano says her problems started when she informed district officials that Independence was padding its enrollment totals. She also says she reported financial mismanagment at the school.
Imbriano says that when she reported these problems, CMS officials bullied her to not tell anyone else about the problems (presumably the press and the public) or she would be fired.
Obviously, I don't know if Imbriano's story is true. But I hope her lawsuit makes other government bodies think twice about trying to intimidate whistle-blowers. After all, the public pays for government services, including schools, and if something fishy is going on, we have the right to know about it.

Fudging and spinning demographic data? Financial mismanagement? Randi obviously is some type of petty, crack pot, vindictive bee---atch. It just can't be.

Truth should include all the high schools in GCS and send these numbers to the board members but leave off the name of the schools and the representatives. See if they will respond as to which ones need to be "fixed".
The only acceptable answers will be:
A) MANY
B) NONE

Acceptable answers to the final test:
A. Neighborhood schools for ALL including HP and Jamestown area
B. Diversity for all schools starting with Dudley, Grimsley, Northwest where numbers are high
C. No redistricting except where new schools are being built
Any other answer other than A, B, or C is an automactic RED "F"

Interesting idea.
If you took the names off then the only ones you could possibly guess would be Dudley and NW.

I rest easy in the knowledge that what was reported having happened at CMS could never happen here in Guilford County because we have an ethical and honest school administration led by Terry Grier, who is loved by teachers and administrators.

Board members are expected to avoid conflicts of interest involving any matter pending before the Board. A conflict of interest is deemed to exist when a member is confronted with an issue in which the member has a personal or pecuniary interest or an issue or circumstance that could render the member unable to devote complete loyalty and singleness of purpose to the public interest. A Board member owes to the Board a fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of the district.
