A school by any other name (than Southern Guilford Middle)....
... would just totally betray Guilford County Schools' modus operandi when it comes to naming new schools. Chief Operating Officer Kevin Lear will update the Board of Education Monday about the naming of the new Southern Area Middle School.
Lear received 24 recommendations for names including: Southern Guilford, Southern, Edward R. Murrow (perennial), Benjamin Higgins, Jefferson Pilot, Henry Frye, MacLamroc, Rosa Parks, Dot Kearns, Charlotte Hawkins Brown, New Vision Academy, Siler, Robert Rayle, Allen Jay-Robert Rayle and Robert E. Lee.
The project team suggests the board pick Southern Guilford and that "Edward R. Murrow be seriously considered by the Board of Education for any future high school to be constructed in the Southeastern part of the county," according to the agenda.
Does anything other than Southern Guilford have a chance?

Well Dot Kearns Middle School doesn't have a chance (unless she kicked the bucket and I didn't hear about it).
Can't imagine who might have suggested Edward R Murrow....again.

My recommendation:
Billy Yow Middle School
In recognition of the guy who's political career was as close to being in the diddie but was able to resurrect it as a result of his people, the Sumner type, who came out in droves to barely return him as CC in 2004.

Oh man Bubba, you're on to something! I like the Yow idea for a school name. Then we could have those T-shirts he's so famous for, only that newer version. You've seen it haven't you?? The shirt with Dr. Grier voiding on the schools? Good idea Bubba, keep 'em coming!!

There has to be a school in HP with Bruce Davis' name on it at well. Thanks to a scant 500+ of Guilford County School System dropouts, the entire county is subjected to Mr. Davis for 4 more years.

That's really swell. The ethnic specific exclamation you made really helps to break down the barriers between the races and the haves & havenots. Why am I not surprised you're part of the NHP mentality toward equitable education for all.
You really enjoyed the environment of the Old South, didn't you. Wish things would revert back to the old ways, don't you.......gotta keep 'em in their place, and so on.

Only in gc you are absolutely right and it is not about bring back the old south.
Hell half of us in nhp aren't even from the south.
It is about speaking and acting right to become employable. How does a person become employable when that person speaks like this: who da father is? How is this person suppose to get a job speaking like that?
But I guess anything is possible when you have a cc who cannot speak proper English. I remember watching a meeting on the telly and heard him say he had wrote!!!! What a rolemodel!!!!! I guess the expectations are not that high in this town.

I guess you're county commish example has a lot in common with the fact that the current occupier of the Oval Office, 43, is one of the most grammatically deficient speakers in the history of American politics. He butchers the English language. Only in America.
