Harris starts superintendent job Aug. 1

A Tennessee paper reports more details, including a $139,000 salary, about new Clarksville-Montgomery County Superintendent Mike Harris. He makes about $130,000 as chief human resources officer in Guilford, where he has worked the past four years.

We reported last week that Harris accepted the job, which is in the middle Tennessee area where he still has family ties.

He starts Aug. 1 as director of schools (superintendent) in the Tennessee district, the local paper reports.

If you listened to all the NHP naysayers and their rantings, they'd have you believe that no one in the GCS admin was worth hiring.

It speaks volumes that other school districts feel otherwise.

Congratulations are in order for Mr. Harris and his new job.

Bubba,

Oh, I agree. I can't wait for the day when some other school district realizes what a treasure we have in Terry Grier, and they take him away from us. Of course, they may all continue to reject him when they get a close-up look at him in the manner that CMS did. Imagine the gall of that lady in Charlotte calling him Dr. Grief. She has no idea of what a treasure she threw-up on.

Oak Ridge,

Dr. Grier should be commended for his success in mentoring others who have left GCS for education positions of greater authority.

It vexes you greatly when something positive occurs in the educational environs of GCS, especially if it just happens to compliment Dr. Grier's administration.

I think many would agree that there are good people in the GCS staff.
Grier though is totally responsible for failing the same number of children at Dudley, Andrews,Smith and Central as five years ago.
He and he alone is responsible.
About 2900 a year!!!!
Bubba,
2900 five years ago.....
2900 last year and probably
2900 this year..

WAKE UP BUBBA!

WAKE UP GUILFORD COUNTY!!!

Bubba, what do you say?

Stormy said:

Bubba,

You're wrong. I love it and I would always love to see positive things happen in our schools. The problem is that Grier usually single-handledly keeps that from happening. I don't really care how many people he develops for other school systems. I only care what happens in this school system, and most of it is not positive, and it is attributable to Terry Grier.

Lord hear our prayers. Take Grier Outta Here!

According to Easley, the administration is failing students at Central, Dudley, Eastern, Smith,
and Southern.

Truth said:

With Southern we are probably up to
3500..EVERY YEAR!!!!!!!!

Bubba.....

Look at the facts and tell us truthfully that you think Grier is a success.

Bubba,

where is your answer?

Bubba Luvs Jesus said:

That's a matured response, very insightful, blame it all on the good doctor.

When things aren't going well in the educational system, the typical response from the vocal minority, the NHP bunch, is, oh it can't be our fault as parents so it must be someone/something else.

It's interesting that with two of three High Schools that were failing, the NHP group of exclusionists did all they could to keep someone else's kid from being granted the opportunity to go to their school or were so selfish that they weren't about to contribute to a more progressive High Point and refused to participate in making Central and Andrews better schools.

Lord Hear our Prayers.

Exclusionists???

Why after the redistricting vote our daughter apparently could have gone back to SW after all, THANKS, BUT NO THANKS.

Bubba here's what I did for you, I kept a seat open for whatever child you think deserves to be in any of the HP high schools because we just prepaid the tuition for another year of HPCA.

Bubba Luvs Jesus said:

Atta boy Buck, when it's desirable to have us all on board to make education better in High Point, what do you and many of your kind do? Enroll your kids in an exclusionist lilly white Christian school in order that they don't rub elbows with those of less fortunate circumstances.

You may not realize but you've just practiced an act of segregation that unfortunately is an exclusionist practice of most Christian schools.

In light of the educational challenges we're facing in HP, I'm accurate in saying your primary purpose for sending your kid to HPCA is not to learn the morals of Jesus but to segregate your kid from those who you deem not worthy of a decent and equitable education. Shame be upon you.

Lord Hear Our Prayers.

Buckmtn said:

Actually that was to re-enroll our daughter after a successful 9th grade experience.

Bubba once again you prove yourself to be way off base by attempting to put words in the mouths of other people. We are segregating our child by placing her in the best possible learning experience where safety is tantamount.

I believe everyone is "worthy of a decent and equitable education". Unfortunately when the actions of others prevent our daughter from receiving that same "decent and equitable education"; then it is the responsibility of the parents to step in and look out for their child first. That's what we did.

I guess it's best to refer to people like you as living in the Bubba Bubble, a truly unhapply lot who think it is wrong that people look out for their own children as they see best.

Bubba Luvs Jesus said:

Buck,

All I can say it that it takes a village and sadly our community hasn't been very successful in collectively coming together on this educational matter in High Point to admit we're part of the problem and are in need of change in order to be better examples for our kids.

Shielding our children in exclusionist institutions will only pass along a problem that finds us reverting to old prejudices.

Mama may have, Papa may have,
But God bless the child that's got his own.

Numbersgame said:

Bubba,

Remind me again of what it is that you have done to increase the educational opportunities for the less fortunate in High Point.

Buckmtn said:

Numbersgame, I'm not sure what Bubba has contributed to improving the education of the children of High Point either.

I can tell you how several of us have contributed to improving the education in High Point is reducing the student/teacher ratio by removing your child from the system.

That way there are less students per teacher and we still pay our property taxes. Which subsequently means there are less children in the system with the same available dollars from the county.

I'm not sure what this does on the Federal or State level; hopefully it means there are less dollars for Dr. Grief to mismanage.

Bubba Luvs Jesus said:

Buck,

At the first sign of a challenge in our communitie's educational system, at least I didn't tuck my tail under my donkey's hindquarters and run from it like you and many of your kind did by enrolling your kids in exclusionist lilly white private schools.

Numbersgame said:

Bubba,

Remind us all again of what it is that you have done to increase the educational opportunities for the less fortunate in Guilford County.

Bubba Luvs Jesus said:

Numbersgame,

I am just a little guy. A nobody in the presence of giants. Sometimes I feel as if I'm Beetle Bailey going up against General Schwartzkopf.

But even with all our shortcomings, my family has held out our hand of friendship and reconciliation to those around us who were born into circumstances less foruntate than ours and at this time find themselves segregated into social and racial classes as the result of our education leaders caving into the demands of a vocal minority.

Numbersgame, will you join hands with me to proclaim it's a new dawn and that all social divisions in our fair county must be renounced and that the dispossessed child be given the same educational opportunities that families like Buck's, as a result of his extreme wealth, has been privileged to have.

Are you ready to take that step with me Numbersgame?
