Guilford County Board of Education mulled over a revised list of possible projects for a 2007 school bond this weekend. Please check out Sunday's story on this.

Following is a breakdown of the $816 million worth of identified projects (the board plans to hammer out a final list and timeframe for a bond in coming months):

$131.8 million: Renovations at 11 high schools, including academies at Dudley, Page and Andrews and SCALE sites on English Road and Craven

$34.4 million: Renovations at Allen Jay, Allen, Northwest and McIver middle schools

$35 million: Renovations at Madison, Summerfield and Pisgah Church Road elementary schools

$21.6 million in improved athletic facilities

I know the need for the airport and SE area, but what schools are overcrowded near Simeon Stadium. I am not being mean, just need to be informed.

Debora,

"Overcrowded" is just a cover word for many other things. Usually "diversity" issues are the real agenda.

The High Point Choice Plan was created out of concern for "overcrowded" schools and all it did was make for more crowding.

Map C3* was born out of concern for "overcrowding" and in reality it was a legalized form of busing minorities.

So, when the board says "overcrowding" they don't really mean "too many bodies", in my opinion, they mean the "wrong color bodies."

Now that is the Real Truth.

Central High Point student enrollment goes down the toilet and they need a new school?

Here is the deal. North High Point is expanding. If your main objective is diversity then how do you abduct those white bodies south?
The answer is by building in extra capacity.

This board should not waste much of their preciious time discussing bonds. they have demonstrated such incompetence at being good stewards of our money that only a fool would vote to give them more to squander.

I've already pulled out my, "VOTE BRAINS, NOT BONDS" campaign button.

Debora,

Of course you're right, but since when has logic been part of the board's planning process? Here's the deal:

The High Point Choice Plan was supposed to bring more middle class families to Central. That was voted down. Then redistricting would bring middle class families to Central from Blairwood. As it turns out, Central this year has a higher number of minority students than ever. The only other recourse is to build a separate facility for the Central IB students.

This is what the High Point board members have wanted all along - a segregated school within a school.

Real Truths said:

Quest,

You describe it so perfectly. Any outsider will think you're being facitious; but to those that have followed this, you couldn't be more right.

All those changes and attempted changes for Central have been under the guise of "diversity" when in reality, Dot Kearns wants to "whiten" up her Alma Mater, Central High.

Other High Pointians that have a stake in the future of "High Point" (the Mayor, Market Bigwigs, etc..) also have gone along with the "diversity" scam. In their eyes, the big glorious crown jewel of High point has become a menace and the only way they can "clean" it up is to ship out the old and ship in the new. And now, with talk of a brand-spanking new addition, Dot Kearns and other racists can have their select few white children all safe and sheltered in their own building.

It's been a pathetic last few years living here and watching all this happen right in front of us. First illegal busing, then gerrymandered districts, and now another attempt to get what they all wanted in the first place--a segregated school within a school.

Quest you have just told their big secret. You better take your kids and run.

There is probably little dispute about new schools needed throughout out the County. However after the last few years there can be little doubt that the existing adminsitration and School Board are fit to manage another dollar, let alone $800 million plus.

Therefore allow me to propose what the Guilford County taxpayers will require in exchange for a "yes" vote for any bonds:

First, the IMMEDIATE resignation of Terry Grier and his entire senior staff.

Second, the resignation of Dot Kearns. The county has watched you destroy Guilford County over the last 30 years through your brand of community service.

Third, the resignation of Kris Cooke. Sitting around with a bewildered look on your face and making token comments no longer cuts it.

Fourth, the resignation of Walter Childs. No one knows what benefit you are bringing to the Board.

Finally, the resignation of Deena Hayes. Your "lost in the 60's comments about what is in it for my people" is insulting.... to your people. What should be in "for your people" is a quality education for their children. It appears you could care less about that, you are just worried about whether or not "your man" has a job. You make me sick whether you are white, black, latino, or green with purple dots on your face.

Can you tell me why Guilford County needs a educational bond when we voted for the Educational Lottery ? My understanding is that the lottery is there for educational needs of our counties. No bond should be needed.

WAKE UP AMERICA! Remember ‘Democrat’ Barney Frank? Mark Foley isn’t the only
predator doing lewd things to you and your children? These people are preying on our children
in public positions, including military, public schools and colleges.
I’ve written several articles on the subject ‘Eliminate property taxes’ and ‘Public Schools’. If we
didn’t have to pay taxes, we could create good Christian schools in our own neighborhoods. It’s
imperative this happen! Our children shouldn’t be subjected to being around anyone who could
and would molest or rape them let alone fill their minds with lewd acts. Our children need to get
an education in respect, morals, principles, and not the moral decay that’s been going on far too
many years in public positions, schools and colleges.
Taxpayers know that for America to survive, decent, moral and highly principled people are
going to have to stand up and put an end to this mess! Taxpayers can no longer sit back and
think ‘someone else’ is going to take care of the problems for you! This kind of thinking is how
all this mess got started!
Politicians are bankrupting America with the give-a-ways, public schools, social programs,
housing projects, welfare, and corporate welfare! The way Taxpayers see it, by eliminating
Property Taxes and Public Schools, we’re putting an end to illegitimates, welfare, social
programs, drugs, predators, murderers, and gangs that’s terrorizing America!
If you don't work, live off welfare and social programs then you shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
Speaking of ‘Discrimination against Taxpayers!’
I’m quoting ‘until you get serious about black kids in the system - blah, blah, blah!’
I’m saying bluntly “It’s not a Black, White, Republican or Democrat issue!” It’s about
politicians ‘receiving’ Taxpayers’ monies without the benefit of working for it! It’s called’ non-
profit organizations and ‘pet projects!’
Vote “NO” to bonds and further spending!
