Tech-ed revival

Check out this story in the Christian Science Monitor about the rise in students taking vocational training courses (with a shout-out to Greensboro included).

It just goes to show that training for the jobs of tomorrow will not necessarily take place at a four-year university.

That's very nice. Let's hope the current School Board and top heavy administrative staff are overhauled so today's students have the opportunity for these jobs of tomorrow. These students still have to read, write, and perform basic math skills regardless of the vocation.

Wasting millions of taxpayer's dollars on poorly consructed buildings is not the way to go.

I said the phrase "vocational school" to Mzzz. Sykes about 2 and half years ago and I thought she was going to slap me with a lawsuit for uttering some type of slander.

A kid was arrested at Eastern High for having a gun today. Did anyone know that? They want to take SRO's out and kids bring guns to school.

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout.

OH, I get it DDdddddddddddeena,

If a kid is white and brings a gun to school then ZAAAAAAAAAP with the taser.

But if the kid is black and brings a gun to school then pinch his cheek, tell him you're sorry his granddaddy's daddy was a slave, and send him on back to class with a lollipop?

Friends on the Chalkboard...

Be sure to read the story about Falkener Elementary and the Presidential visit. With 86% of its students receiving free or reduced lunch, they have made progress every year on test scores. Like the story says, this is just what NCLB was supposed to accomplish.

How in the world can Terry Grier and Dot and Deena explain the fact that 78.7% of the black kids in this school passed BOTH the reading and math tests for AYP?

Why does High Point have to do it differently? Instead of planting mums in front of our schools, we are breaking up any and all schools that are even close to 86% FRL, putting the kids on buses, and telling them that we've treated them unfairly all this time. The D & D Railroad has told them there is no way they can learn in this environment. Dot tells them that their school is "perceived" differently than other schools. Grier paid Mr. Kahlenburg to visit so he could tell us that a poor black kid couldn't learn unless he sat next to a white kid.

This is the story Bush needs to hear about.

Don't you know that Allen and Doug have said repeatedly that High Point is different than Greensboro. What works in Greensboro can't possibly work in High Point. I guess that is what they mean by High Point being different.

Concerned,

Do you have any details about a student having a gun at Eastern Guilford?

Concerned said:

My kid came home and said the SRO came into class and got the kid out. She thinks they searched him in the hall and they found a gun in his pocket. That's all I got.

Just another example of "the man" against my oppressed people.

I am interested in any feedback regarding the SRO and the administrative staff (assistant principals, principal) at Eastern Guilford High School. Any info, good or bad, is appreciated. Please spread the word and contact me at 282-2182.
