Lead paint found at McIver

Check out today's story on elevated levels of lead paint being found at McIver in October. Some parents are concerned that their autistic children may be at risk and want to know when the district will remove the paint.

I've heard that Deena has requested that the lead be removed immediately from the classrooms that house black students, but the classrooms of white children, well, it won't hurt them a bit.

Morgan, are you sure you didn't mean the lead paint was found by McIver?

I wish we could get McIver to come out of retirement because maybe he could jerry rig our school system and make it work.

McIver, where are you? They should never have taken you off the air.

Lead paint is not the only problem at McIver. The school also needs major renovations. It still has radiant heat, which is a burn hazard for the children. There are possible problems with asbestos, mold, and the staff has been warned to keep food items in plastic storage containers to keep the rats out. Our special children deserve better than to be housed in facilities like this.
