A proposal for a K-8 entertainment magnet?

Why not a sound plan to teach Math, English, etc. to the K-8 students in High Point?

I think the better approach is to teach the basics first and until that is done, an entertainment magnet must be a joke.

The K-8 entertainment technology proposal arose as a part of the Magnet Grant proposal on 10/10/2006 as a use for Allen Jay.

Magnet Grant Update

Dr. Eric Becoats, chief of staff, and Dr. Don Hare, executive director of federal and special programs, presented to the board an update on the status of the magnet grant.

Yes, I remember that meeting. It's always all about the grant money - and unfortunately, the federal government doesn't offer grant money to teach the 3 R's.

Excuse me, but for the uninformed, what the heck is an "entertainment technology magnet", and what is it designed to do for school children? Also, why do we need it and how much will it cost? Is there a demand for people educated in entertainment technology? No wonder as a nation. we slipping behind most of the industralized nations of the world.

Good Question Stormy,
my guess--- somehow this would feed into the entertainment middle college at GTCC-- It seems that we will make a new school just to get the money for three years. Always a short term mentallity-- where will the money come from after the grant runs out. And can you just imagine the cost of the entertainment equipment (sound, lighting, recording, filming etc)

Not to Worry said:

Don't worry Debora. SWH's "State of the Arts" production magnets waited on cameras. The dance magnet didn't have a dance floor. By the time they start getting equipment in the program will be replaced with another magnet.
