Paul Daniels so far uncontested in District 5 race
Candidates for years have been promising to bring accountability to the Guilford County Board of Education. Will the sworn-in members in December have a chance of making this a reality next year?
Paul Daniels is one of the candidates who filed this week, promising to help make the board more transparent and honest to the public and county commissioners. Daniels, a Greensboro attorney, is the only person to file in District 5. He said he has been mulling the decision for a couple of years.
“The biggest problem facing the school board is public confidence,” said Daniels, 43. “There’s a reason people are cynical of public officials.”
Daniels has two children who attend Alamance Elementary and Southeast Guilford High School. Priorities for Daniels include proper management of construction funds and closing the "riff" that exists between the school board and commissioners, he said.
By the way it looks like only three of six incumbents will run again this year. Out are Anita Sharpe, Walter Childs and Dot Kearns. Darlene Garrett and Kris Cooke have filed; Amos Quick said he intends to file.

Where does Paul Daniels work? I cannot locate him in the Attorney listing in the Yellow Pages.
Garth ran on a platform of change only to find him holding his powder for a day that may not come.
How much worse can it get before something is done.

Mr. Daniels works for Teague, Rotenstreich & Stanaland, but their attorney profile web page is broken, so it's no use in telling us anything about him.

Here is some more information regarding Mr. Daniels' that may be helpful. He also has a CV peer review rating, and that is something that other lawyers anonymously rate the individual based upon their experience. It is monitored through Lexis-Nexis, Martindale Hubbell. Mr. Daniels rating is a CV according to Martindale-Hubbell. I have copied and pasted what exactly the ratings mean from their website. I have also pasted a website address where you can see Mr. Daniels' profile and picture that his firm has posted. Hope this info helps.

What "Peer Review Rated" Represents
When a lawyer achieves Peer Review Rated status, he or she has earned an additional level of validation for the professional skills and high ethical standards displayed through actions and work product. The designation reflects the confidential opinions of both rated and non-rated peers from the lawyer's Bar and/or area of legal practice.
The Peer Review Rated status is a criterion that can be used when selecting an individual lawyer for hire however the absence of the designation should not be construed as unfavorable.
How is a Rated Status Achieved?
Reviews occur in stages over the course of a lawyer's career with the first review typically after a United States or Canadian lawyer has been admitted to a state or provincial bar for 10 years or more. Personal interviews are conduct by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell representatives, confidential questionnaires are distributed and, at times, lawyers under review may be asked to provide professional references to assist with the process. The data is compiled and a result is determined.
There are two components to Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings:
1. General Ethical Standards Rating
The General Ethical Standards Rating denotes adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities.
The General Recommendation Rating is:
V - Very High
A lawyer must receive a General Ethical Standards Rating before his or her review can proceed to the next step.
2. Legal Ability Ratings
Legal Ability Ratings take into consideration the standard of professional ability in the area where the lawyer practices, the lawyer's expertise, and other professional qualifications. If a lawyer's practice is limited or specialized, Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings are based on performance in those specific fields of law.
Legal Ability Ratings are:
C - Good to High
B - High to Very High
A - Very High to Preeminent
When both categories of Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings are confirmed, a lawyer receives an CV, BV or AV Rating.

Anita's retirement will be a huge loss to this county. She is one of the most sensible, no-nonsense persons on the school board. She has served tirelessly for many years, not just caring about her district only, but about the other children of Guilford County. She's always been a good listener. She great at "the numbers" and asking the right questions.
Anita definitely deserves to enjoy a retirement and spend more time with her family and grandchildren. We will miss her dearly.
Whoever replaces her will have a tough act to follow.

Morgan,
Why have you posted this strand on Mr Daniels and nothing on Mr Mckinney and the Dr. Childs replacement.
Do you have any background on these people too?

Anonymous,
I post on candidates as I interview them. I already posted about Walter Childs and who he is supporting, although I am still waiting to hear back from Ms. Foster.
