Sonya Conway to leave Guilford County Schools
Sonya Conway, chief district relations officer for Guilford County Schools, will start work with American Express's Greensboro service center on March 17. Conway became head of the district's communications department in 2004 after working with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. Her last day is Friday, March 14, coincidentally the same official last day as Superintendent Terry Grier.
Conway will work for American Express as a director of public affairs and communication. Conway said she wasn't looking to leave the district, but said the new job will benefit her long term growth and development.
"It's a tremendous opportunity," she said.
Conway, in tears, told me last night her work with GCS was the most awarding rewarding work she has ever done. School board members congratulated her at last night's meeting.

Sonya has always represented GCS in a classy manner-- good luck in the future.

How many other members of the Grier Team are going to leave now along with him?

No big deal. There's tons of people out there with criminal records that really need a job. GCS will take them in. They take anyone.

I agree Debora. Sonya was probably one of the classiest people in the chief's cabinet..by far the best dressed. I wish her the best of luck and I hope her replacement can continue the work she has done.

Is "classy" defined as obeying every immoral command given by your supervisor....hmmm! Sonia got the "title" promotion she held on for as agreed, for her services and is smart to get out immediately, before a "real leader" identify that she is lacking in areas that matter, "leadership, moral responsibility and integrity"

I just could not trust her.

She did as she was told.
