Huey to hold virtual town hall meeting

Erik "E.C." Huey, one of five at-large candidates for the Guilford County Board of Education, takes his campaign a step up by holding a virtual town hall meeting with the public on Wednesday. He's also beating doing this about a week ahead of a candidate forum that will take place at Northern High next Tuesday.

Huey says the Webchat will be an opportunity for citizens to ask questions and dialogue with the candidate in real-time about the issues in his campaign.

The discussion will take place from 7-9 p.m. and can be accessed here or here.

What does it mean "He's also beating a candidate forum"?

I love that EC Huey! said:

Morgan, are you participating? I think what Mr. Huey is doing is great. What other candidate is putting themselves out this much?--NONE, that's right.

Thanks

Morgan, et. al.: due to a last minute scheduling conflict, the date for our first virtual Town Hall meeting & Web-chat has been changed to tomorrow, Thursday April 10, 7-9pm. This is only a change in date. I look forward to you all participating!

I may check in on the virtual meeting, but I can't commit since that will take place outside my work hours.

Morgan, you mean you can only attend/report on school happenings that just so happen to fall between the hours of 9 and 5? Seriously? ...what about when Jennifer used to cover the waaaay late school board meetings...?? What about when Bruce used to cover all things day and night??...man, I miss the good ol' days... Is this part of the N&R's new slaughter-the-reporters-and-save-a-few-bucks plan?

No, Morgan may have simply set the limits of her work time to be in line with what her new family needs from her. If Morgan has decided to claim that "after 5" time for herself and her family, she's only implementing what we've read many times on this board about the importance of family input to success in school. Morgan is just starting hers early. Nothing interrupts 7-9 at my house now, and I should have staked that rule when mine were babies.

I agree that Morgan's new baby needs her mom at home but keep in mind that most school happenings happen behind closed doors or in the middle of the night.... Maybe the N&R could splurge and find Morgan some help so the chalkboard could stay more current.

That was a very offensive/stupid remark.
