Time Warner offers award

Here’s a release from Time Warner Cable, if you know a principal you think should win be sure to tell them about this.

“Time Warner Cable is seeking entries for its 2009 National Teacher Awards. The Carolina Region is distributing entry forms to encourage Triad area teachers to participate. The program, now in its 20th year, recognizes classroom projects that use the resources Time Warner Cable provides to schools at no charge as a way to enhance the learning experience for students and teachers.

Fifteen teachers or teacher teams will be chosen from entries submitted from areas served by Time Warner Cable divisions around the country. Winners receive a $2000 cash prize, $3000 cash for the advancement of classroom technology for their school and a Crystal Apple sculpture. They also win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Washington, D.C., for a gala Awards celebration.

In 2007, Time Warner Cable initiated a new award to acknowledge the important role a principal plays in supporting a teacher’s use of technology as an effective learning tool. Nominations for the Champion Principal award only can be made online at www.timewarnercable.com/nationalteacherawards. The Champion Principal will be recognized at the Awards Gala in Washington and will receive $5000 for classroom technology enhancement in his/her school.

Last year, two teachers from the Carolina Region were winners of this prestigious award. To be eligible to enter projects for consideration in the National Teacher Awards, teachers must be in a state accredited public or private school (K-12) located within a Time Warner Cable service area. To be eligible classroom projects must fall within the 2008/2009 school year.”

Brian,

Can you post a story about the $5 million dollars that GCS will have to give back to the state? Also, I saw in an article that Mo Green has put in a hiring freeze - funny how they were able to approve yet another >$100,000 employee just last week.

You can't tell me they didn't see this coming.

I think the hiring freeze should be retroactive...
you know they knew about this at the last board meeting........

Neither Eric or Nora meets the minimum requirement for this position and neither should have been given the title.

Minimum requirement is that they have experience as a Principal......

Nora is a public relations expert......
she better get to work because GCS have
some explaining to do.....

I know they just voted that 1.5 million dollars that was not used in the Southern project be reallocated to Southern Middle for sprinklers?

Just how many middle schools in the county has this....

Times like this we need to think long and hard about educating children and less about the he has and I wants......

Left it said:

Apparently Mo has all the Green he wants when it comes to his personal assistants. I'm sure the teachers and students will make the sacrifices so he can continue where Grier left off. That's our system. Love it or leave it.

Guilford County School Board,
There needs to be a clean sweep downtown, before even thinking about taking away from our kids. This needs to begin at the TOP!

Anonymous,

For goodness sake, that ain't gonna ever happen! The school board sees to it that its Superintendent has all he needs. To heck with the students and teachers. They've gone without for so long now anyway.

Yes,

The same old unacceptable behaviour from this school board. Apparently they dont follow the world news.

Its this kind of management in the US that is driving the counry into the ground.

I try to teach my children that money does not grow on trees. Somebody should teach that to the SB and to Mr Mo Greener.

Mr. Green,

Just exactly how does putting an immediate freeze on "instructional supply" dollars NOT
effect our classrooms! It was barely enough
to begin with..

After adding another unecessary position to your staff, you are not proving yourself worthy of anything more than a bull..... award.

Nothing against Mrs. Carr...but creating her a position just in time for the hiring freeze is unethical!

What are we going to do now?

MIssion Impossible.....
due to impossible administration of idiots!!
