Klan-like masks found at HP Central
When students do this kind of thing should they be allowed back at school? Should they be allowed to go to another school in the district?

Why the past Queen of the School Board would say you have to understand what the child is thinking. At least if it was a gang related incident that is what she would have said.
How do you turn a traffic cone inside out anyway?

Why not?
Gang members put their graffitti and hate messages on school walls, books, and paper everyday....and nothing is done....
They are allowed to wear their gang colors and
rags at school indicating their gang and who they hate with no consequences...
Matter of fact our board members defend their right to do this....
SARCASM
"Klan members should be allowed to go to school in their Klan attire should they wish....don't you think!
After all, they are just wearing what they want to....
it doesn't mean they are really in the Klan....they are just pretending...
However,,,this will not happen...they are not even allowed to wear their Southern Comfort /Rebel flags on their clothes"
****Please explain the difference!!!

Well.... let's see....
When gang behavior is responsible for murduring and lynching millions of people, pillaging private property, raping women, burning down churches, disenfranchising an entire race of people (with the silent support of other whites) from 1865 to 1965, electing government officials to office (including Governors, presidents, senators, state representatives, sheriffs, county comissioners, etc.) in order to use legal and political power to promote white supremacy and worse, to limit the constitutional rights of non-white, jewish, or non-christian citizens, and generally scapegoating others for their own inadequacies, then I guess I will see gangs and the KKK ( or red shirts as they were called in some parts of NC) as the same. Gang behavior is definitely self-destructive and a detriment to poor people in inner-city neighborhoods but not to be compared. If gang members were supported (silently or otherwise) by the general public and had governmental power and influence- maybe you would have a case. Read your history! (Reading is fundamental.)

The KKK are a gang.

Black people kill more of their own black people every year in this country than the total number of blacks lynched in the U.S.
Millions of people?
Reading certainly is fundamental.

Reading is Fundamental...........
Have "YOU" read the papers lately?
"When gang behavior is responsible for murduring and lynching millions of people, pillaging private property, raping women, burning down churches, disenfranchising an entire race of people............... "
KKK = Hate and the advancement of their group and the elimination and suppression of others.
Gangs = Hate and the advancement of their group and the elimination and suppression of others.
It's the same!!
KKK/Gangs/Cartels = Murder, rape, fear, threats, power, arson hate, loss of individual rights, money, government influence in many countries
Gangs are getting a stronghold in some governments and if not soon irradicated will have a stronghold in ours....and it will begin with people that think like you, the NAACP, and Guilford County Schools!!
Posted on December 17, 2008 11:24 AM
The KKK is wrong and so is this behavior.....Gangs are wrong and so is their behavior...................Black or white, why don't we all just call right, right and wrong, wrong.......only when Americans start looking at our society this way will we make headway in taking our schools, neighborhood, and country back!
Let the honest, good people who want the best for thier families, neighborhood, and America prevail!!

Misinformed, you could not have picked a better handle for yourself.

As I said last night at the school board meeting, I believe that this is an outlier, an aberation. We live in a world in which race is increasingly unimportant (at least to those who don't earn a living by peddling race). Take for example the fact that we have elected a black man President of the United States. In Guilford County where race has historically mattered, we have a black mayor, black police chief, black superintendant and a black chairman of our county commissioners. None of this would be possible in a world in which klan hoods were commonplace or accepted. Indeed, we are shocked that at this point in time people could do these things because the attitudes which inform those action are reprehensible to most.
Attitudes have changed a great deal for the better and we need to recognize that fact. Failing to recognize the dramatic changes that we have seen over the past forty years or so denegrates the struggle of those who came before us and the hard work that we have done as a nation and ignores the contributions of good people of every walk of life who every day make a difference through those small gestures that weave us closer together.
These changes also refute the idea of "institutional racism", which posits a couple of things, i.e., that racims is inherent in American institutions and, consequently, that only whites can be racists because they control the instutitions. If this were true, it would not be possible for Barack Obama to be elected the most powerful man in the world.

Nice one Paul!

I would like to know what institutions whites control? There's only one thing worse than the idea of "institutional racism" and that is "white guilt". Why should white people feel guilty for something that only some white people did and that happened years ago? Most of our European ancestors came immigrated to the United States in the 1800s. Most of these immigrants were poor peasants. They were not rich. They definitely did not own slaves. Most left Euope to find a better life here.
Another observation is this. There is a major difference between African children in the our schools and black American children. Just ask Oprah why she started a school for girls in Africa and not here.
Great points Mr. Daniels. With Obama as president there can be no more poor excuses why black Americans can't make it here.

Obama is not African American.
