I think it stinks. To have a regional plan moving forward, when teachers, staff members and other personnel being laid off is ridiculous. Administration will have nothing to administrate if there are not teachers and staff members in the building to teach to the children. Maybe our superintendent should look at the cost of all the paper and pencils we waste with this ludicrous testing, which does nothing to prepare our children for real life. No wonder why our students are dropping out and have few social skills. It's time for Guilford County and NC in general to realize instead of "No Child Left Behind", we're starting to leave all children behind. Regional plan should be shelved and salaries should be looked at to keep teachers where they need to be, the classroom.

Contract security firms cannot replace the training and expertise of our law enforcement officers….PERIOD…

No one can measure the issues that never arise because officers are visible on campus….

So quickly we forget why the schools have them in the first place….if you have doubts…go spend a full week in the shoes of our administration on campus…it will definitely open your eyes.

Matter of fact…I am curious as to why Guilford County and the Guilford County Sheriff department charges the Schools so much for these officers…..as a county tax payer that sees very little benefit from my county taxes…
I would like to know why these services are not provided “FREE OF CHARGE” to “Guilford County” Schools!!!!

Why do you tie the schools purse strings and then charge the schools such an outrageous amount ………you definitely
do not have enough officers in the county to respond to calls from the schools if the SRO officers were not on sight?

Provide our schools the security that the tax paying parents in Guilford County expect for
.....OUR CHILDREN and get out of the business of trying to ruin OUR SCHOOLS!!

I agree with parents paying for ap exams, however since it would be the parents money the district can not make the test manditory. I do know that if all kids take the test, we get more recognition. I know it shows which teachers are doing a better job; however.. many that are forced to take the test; don't try so not sure that info is not tainted.

I also agree is a student on free/reduced lunch wants to take the test the district should pay.

I don't agree with losing sro's. Neither middle school nor high school. They all need them.

I hate to see anyone lose their jobs, but obviously with 85% of our funds spent on personel that is going to happen.

I agree with extending maintenance on yard work etc.

You have to maintain adequate adult supervision, but that does not mean more law enforcement. It could mean more adult supervision/period. SROs have to be at each school, but they cannot be responsible for law enforcement, AND babysitting, hall monitoring, bathroom monitoring, classroom management, parking lot duty and de-escalating mental health melt-downs. When you do not have enough adults per student/ratio to maintain basic compliance with group rituals, you are asking for chaos. But this is a group that does not even provide enough toilet paper for students, so expecting that this community provides enough adult supervision to de-escalate normative adolescent immaturity and acting out is, apparently, ridiculous. If we wanted to do better, we would be doing better.
