I Got Mine
I've been listening to The Black Keys' latest album, Attack and Release, since it came out.
I've got this song stuck in my head and can't seem to shake it:
They're playing at the Ryman Auditorium in October and I'm thinking about taking a trip to Nashville to visit some friends and see them live.
Word is they're amazing live.

They're a total powerhouse live. Now, I'm not the sort of person for whom a bent blue note scratches any particular lingering itch -- because blooz noodling is the default of millions of boring rock guitarists, the pentatonic scale doesn't really register in my mind anymore unless the player's doing something really special. The Black Keys are pretty special, though. Auerbach's tone is off the goddamn hook and Carney's rhythms are quite innovative. I like The Black Keys because they do what 95% of blues-rock musicians absolutely would not do. And the dynamic between these two guys live is impressive; when I saw them, I felt sucked right into their sonic universe. I was at the back of the room and felt like I was wedged between them. That's not to say they were spectacularly loud -- they weren't -- but that their chemistry is that compelling. They're worth checking out, yeah.
