Gas price mania
Welcome to Debatables, a place where we all talk about the issues of the day. Please keep them on point and constructive. Now to the first topic:
Don Patterson writes about a Googley gas pump that lets you get directions as you fill up. Yeah, OK. That's just an excuse I'm using to get a post in about gas prices. They're going up in 10-cent increments now. Everywhere it's over $3 a gallon, isn't it?
How high will you go before you start cutting back? Where is the cheapest station you've found? Help a fellow out.

The cheapest I've found is at the Sheetz and Murphy Oil (read: Wal-Mart gas) at the Mebane exit on I-40E. Last night, it was $2.87 at Sheetz for 87 octane. Wal-Mart is usually the same price, and you get 3 cents off if you make your purchase with a Wal-Mart gift card.
But, gas is always cheap (relatively speaking) at that exit. It's on a major interstate and there's lots of nearby competition.
The highest I've seen is the Exxon on E. Market Street headed toward N.C. A&T from downtown -- $3.15 for regular gas. Yikes!

You can usually get decent prices around Wendover and I-40, in part because Costco sells at a pretty steep discount.
