Your new Greensboro City Council

Welcome to Debatables, a place where we all talk about the issues of the day. Please keep it clean. Now to the first topic:

The counting is done. Here is your new City Council, Greensboro. The throw-the-bums-out initiative was only moderately successful. Only one incumbent city council member was defeated. Three of the new council members are hardly new faces, one is a former city council member and two are former county commissioners. The mayor is new, but she's been a council member for years.

How do you like what you've done?

The people have spoken and the results speak for themselves. This will be a very interesting City Council. Hopefully, they will not turn into the "New County Commissioners" and we can see some civility between all of the strong personalities. Yvonne Johnson is a great choice for mayor and she will try her best to be a bridge-builder but it will be hard with that bunch. Mike Barber is joined by Robbie Perkins as the two-most wanting to be Mayor(or who thinks they are the most important and most self promoting) and Mary Rakestraw is a caricature of a public official. But, all in all a very strong council.

Shame Diane Bellamy Small did not to lose her seat to a much better choice, Tonya Clinkscale. I guess Ms. Small giving away all those free bus tickets paid off for her. Looks those folks made it to the polls.

Better choice...Tonya Clinckscale???? What do you actually know about her? Nothing, no one does, she is a phantom candidate. Done nothing, no experience, no knowledge; bad choice for the district.

The only reason she got any votes was the anti-incumbent attitude in the City of Greensboro.

By the way, the bus tickets Bellamy-Small gave out went to homeless people and single parents, so are you saying it is a shame that they voted? No, Shame on you.
