Grobe to Arkansas

How big of a loss to WFU will it be if Coach Grobe goes to Arkansas? Should he have honored his contract to Wake? With the latest news, it's probably worth rephrasing -- do you think Coach Grobe will stay for another year, given all the interest other colleges are showing in him?

Coach Grobe leaving would be DEVASTATING for Wake Forest football. Even in the years when Wake had losing records under Grobe, the Deacs were in nearly every game, even against much more talented teams. Grobe himself has been Wake's greatest weapon (last year's NFL draft, in which only a handful of Wake players were selected, proved that), and there isn't anyone else like him in the country - someone with a brilliant football mind who is also a kind-hearted gentleman. I cannot fault him for leaving as today's college coaching contracts are more a sign of the school's faithfulness to the coach, not the other way around. Although I am crushed that he is leaving because I am such a huge Wake fan, I cannot blame him for accepting more money and a higher profile program. I am, however, surprised that he opted to go to Arkansas, and I do not think that his experience there (with their very unrealistic fan base) will be anywhere close to as good as his time at Wake Forest. But we'll always have that magical 2006 season! Go Deacs!

I too think this is devastating news! I too am a huge WFU fan & season ticket holder for the last 7 seasons. His W-L record is very deceptive because since coming on board there has been more of an air of confidence that he brings and coaching skills...he is not a loose cannon! We knew that we were getting better each year and for the last 4 years we felt that we could beat or play with anyone....anyone! Those 3-7 or 5-7 season could very well have been 10-1 for a couple of years because of a missed play etc. We have not gotten blown out but a couple of times and most losses was by less than a TD. We all know what we have and we are grateful for the time he has been here & hopefully he has gotten us to a point where another coach can continue what he has started if he does indeed leave. I know one thing, the ARK crowd will not be very patient for him to implement his system for 5 years...they will want immediate results yesterday. So if he leaves he better be ready to be on the "hot seat" if he doesn't win right away and keep winning.

He is staying, and there is not another team
that is as talented as Wakes and the next
few years will prove it.
Head Coach Jim Grobe is at Wake Forest
and no other team can have him.
JUST TRY IT AGAIN-SCHOOLS
It won't work, it has been tried the last 7-years
and money will not do it either.
