What do you think?

January 10, 2008

Smoking grades

North Carolina didn't do so hot on the American Lung Association's annual report card. Three Fs and a C? Is that fair? Should we be doing better? Do you even care what the group says?

Commuting by bus

Would you ride the bus from Greensboro to Archdale? Or Lexington to Greensboro? For the thousands of commuters it would be cheaper than driving. Also more trouble. Would you do it?

Bomb scare

S & M Market is robbed so many times that the owner takes things into his own hands and hangs inert grenades in the store's windows. The police respond with the hazardous devices team, stop traffic from the nearby street and evacuate nearby buildings. The owner says, basically, oh, now you respond. Where were you when I was being robbed?

A Florida development company is dropping its plan to build a golf-course community next to Haw River State Park and will sell the land to North Carolina's state park system.

200 TV

Have you seen the Greensboro bicentennial ads on TV? Like them?

City Council powers

Should the City Council be able to tell the manager who to hire and fire, even though that's not its job? (The council only manages the city manager. Everyone else ultimately reports to the city manager.) Is this micromanaging or a strategic readjustment?

January 14, 2008

January 24, 2008

Cosmetic surgery

The health department says cosmetic injections should be overseen by a reputable physician. The N.C. Medical Board, which regulates the practice of medicine in the state, has no real jurisdiction in the case. Right now, there are no charges planned in this case. Does that seem right?

If John Edwards doesn't win in South Carolina, should he drop out? Or perhaps the better question is: what percentage of the vote is considered a victory for him?
