Cosmetic surgery

The health department says cosmetic injections should be overseen by a reputable physician. The N.C. Medical Board, which regulates the practice of medicine in the state, has no real jurisdiction in the case. Right now, there are no charges planned in this case. Does that seem right?

If these people are practicing medicine why doesn't the NC medical board have jurisdiction over this?

Lex said:

That's a good question, Pam. The answer is that the N.C. Medical Board regulates licensed practitioners. When it comes to people practicing without a license, all they can do is report the information to the local district attorney. Whether overtaxed local prosecutors will devote scarce resources to prosecuting the misdemeanor in question is another matter, however. A Guilford assistant DA also is quoted in the story as saying that without more information, the office doesn't have enough to decide whether to bring charges.
